About
About Me
I am a highly experienced Senior Examiner working across both national and international examination boards, currently holding key roles as an Assistant Principal Examiner, Team Leader, and Paper Reviser. These positions reflect my deep expertise in assessment design, standardisation, and maintaining the highest levels of marking accuracy.
Alongside my examining work, I am a Lead Teacher at an outstanding Grammar School, where I play a pivotal role in driving excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and student outcomes. My classroom practice is consistently informed by my examining insight, allowing me to deliver highly targeted and effective instruction.
In addition, I am an established Teacher Trainer and Facilitator, delivering high-impact professional development on assessment, marking, and exam technique to teachers both nationally and internationally. My training is known for being practical, rigorous, and rooted in real examiner expectations, empowering educators to significantly improve student attainment.
Tutoring Experience
I have over 10 years of experience tutoring IGCSE, GCSE, and A-level students in English, History, and Sociology, with a proven track record of securing exceptional results. I specialise in translating complex mark schemes into clear, accessible strategies that enable students to maximise performance.
As an experienced teacher and senior examiner, I have a clear understanding of how students secure marks and succeed in their exams. My students consistently achieve excellent results year on year.
I have been teaching at an outstanding Grammar School since 2015 and have over a decade of experience tutoring IGCSE, GCSE and A-level English, History, and Sociology. All of my students make measurable progress, with the majority improving by 2–3 grades/levels.
Tutoring Approach
"Teaching is the one profession that creates all others."
My approach focuses on making complex concepts accessible and meaningful. I break down challenging topics and link them to real-world and current affairs, helping students develop a deeper understanding and the ability to apply knowledge effectively in exams. I also equip students with practical strategies to impress examiners and maximise marks.
I tailor every session to the individual. By identifying each student’s strengths, gaps and learning style, I design targeted lessons that ensure maximum progress. My sessions often include structured homework or flipped learning, alongside regular assessment and detailed feedback to track improvement.
I specialise in helping students overcome “bottleneck” areas - whether that’s difficult content or key exam skills such as analysis, evaluation and structuring high-level responses. These are often the areas that make the biggest difference to final grades.
Above all, I create a supportive and motivating environment where students build confidence, reduce exam anxiety and develop the skills needed to perform at their best.

How we verify these
Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:
- Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
- Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.
The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

My daughter had only 3 lessons with Shazia and she enjoys her lessons and feels more organised and focused than before. I am planning to ask Shazia if she could start with my younger daughter soon.

I couldn’t have asked for a better tutor for English Language GCSE. My son, who is this year in Year 12, chose to resit his English Language exam as he wanted to improve his last year grades. He was this year diagnosed with ADHD, which explains some of the struggles he had. In the space of a few weeks, Shazia helped him tremendously with his exam techniques. She also managed to boost his confidence.
