About

Daniel is a UK based flautist specialising in modern and historical performance, with a busy career as both performer and teacher. A core member of Manchester Baroque, he works with leading ensembles and institutions including teaching at Chetham’s School of Music and Opera North’s Young Musicians Studio, supporting students through outstanding, individual focused teaching.

Daniel performs regularly with leading period ensembles including Manchester Baroque, Yorkshire Baroque Soloists and Baroque in the North, and previously held a Manchester Baroque Fellowship from 2023. He has also collaborated with the Orchestra of Opera North on education projects and workshops. During his studies he performed as Principal Flute of all Leeds Conservatoire’s (LC) classical ensembles and with the Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra. He has toured internationally and worked with distinguished conductors including Natalia Luis-Bassa, Peter Seymour and Christopher Stokes.

Daniel is also active as a recording artist, having completed professional recordings on Baroque flute for the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and the National Trust.

Daniel completed his Master’s degree in Classical Performance (Modern and Historical) at LC, following earlier specialist training at the Centre for Advanced Training at Sage Gateshead. He is a prize-winner of the Mrs Sunderland Festival and a recipient of awards from the Wolfson Foundation and EMI Music Sound Foundation.

Teaching Experience:
Daniel teaches at internationally renowned institutions including Chetham’s School of Music and Opera North’s Young Musicians Studio, alongside maintaining a successful private teaching practice and working with regional music services.

He is regularly observed and reviewed as an outstanding teacher, recognised for his professionalism, clarity of explanation and ability to build strong technical foundations while nurturing musical confidence and independence. He has delivered guest talks at LC and at RNCM, in collaboration with Chetham’s School of Music, focusing on effective and sustainable practice strategies.

Daniel works with students of all ages and levels, including advanced young musicians preparing for conservatoire auditions, competitions and professional performance.
