Pre-school Creative Writing tutors

2 of 2 UK tutors teaching Creative Writing at Pre-school.

Creative Writing covers the disciplines mainstream English Literature deliberately sets aside — short fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, scriptwriting for stage and screen. It appears as a strand within English Language at GCSE and A-level (where it carries real weight in the writing papers), as part of EPQ projects, and as a standalone Open University and adult-learner discipline. Tutoring helps most with the workshopping habit — close reading of drafts, line-edit feedback, and the structural craft (point of view, voice, scene vs summary) that schools often don't teach explicitly. Look for tutors with published or produced work in the form they're teaching, ideally with workshop or MA-style facilitation experience rather than just 'writes themselves'.

Pre-school covers learning before statutory schooling begins — roughly ages 2 to 4, before Reception. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework guides nursery and pre-school provision, covering communication and language, physical development, personal-social-emotional development, literacy, maths, understanding the world, and expressive arts. Tutoring at this stage is rare and rarely about academics — where it's helpful, it's typically school-readiness work for children with speech, language or developmental concerns, or early reading and number for families wanting structured support. Look for tutors with EYFS or early-years teaching backgrounds, not subject specialists transposed downward.
