Tutorperch is built on open-source software and uses public datasets to power features like our location picker, exam-board reference data, and qualification levels. We list the third-party data sources we rely on here, along with the attribution required by their respective licences.
UK postcode and place data
Our location search — the field that lets tutors set their teaching area and lets parents search near a postcode or town — is powered by postcodes.io, an open-source API maintained by Ideal Postcodes. The postcodes.io project is distributed under the MIT licence; its data ultimately derives from the UK Government's open postcode and place-name datasets.
The underlying data is provided under the following attributions:
- Contains OS data © Crown copyright and database right 2026
- Contains Royal Mail data © Royal Mail copyright and database right 2026
- Contains National Statistics data © Crown copyright and database right 2026
- Source: Office for National Statistics licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0
When you type into a location field on Tutorperch, the query text is forwarded to postcodes.io via our own proxy endpoint. We don't send any identifying details along with the query, and we don't store the search text beyond short-lived edge-cached results. See our Privacy policy for the full picture of how we handle data.
Qualifications, levels, and exam-board reference data
Our subject, level, and exam-board catalogues are built from public information published by each awarding body and from UK Government qualification-framework data. The catalogue is curated by us; the source bodies retain copyright in their specifications and any quoted material is used under fair dealing for the purposes of education and review.

Open-source software
Tutorperch is built on a stack of open-source projects including SvelteKit, Tailwind CSS, Drizzle ORM, Tiptap, Bits UI, and others. Each is used under its own open-source licence (typically MIT). A full dependency manifest is available on request — email support@tutorperch.com.
