For tutors
List free. Keep what you earn.
A UK directory built around the tutor, not the platform. No commission, ever. The student pays a one-off £20 finder's fee to unlock your contact details — then you and they arrange everything directly.
We've heard this from tutors
If you've listed on the big sites, you know.
Most UK tutoring marketplaces run on commission. They take a cut of every lesson you teach, indefinitely. The model has predictable downsides:

15-35% commission, on every lesson
Big platforms take a cut of every hour you teach. The longer the relationship, the more they earn — for an introduction they made once.
Students who feel like the platform's, not yours
Restrictive terms force communication on-platform, sometimes forever. Try to take a long-term student off-platform and you risk losing your account.
Cancellation policies that favour the student
When a student bails on a lesson last-minute, you're often the one out of pocket — platforms keep the buyer side happy because that's where their commission comes from.
What we do instead
We charge once. Then we step out of the way.
The student pays a one-off £20 to unlock your contact details. We earn that fee — once per introduction, never again. After that, the relationship is yours.
No commission, full stop
No per-lesson cut, no take rate, no listing fee. The student pays a one-off £20 finder's fee to unlock your contact details. After that, you and they transact directly — we have no further claim on the relationship.
Free DBS verification
Upload your Enhanced DBS certificate, we manually review it (no auto-checks, no per-check charge), and you get a verified badge. Refreshed every three years.
Direct relationship after unlock
Students message you on platform until they're ready to commit. Once they've unlocked, you swap contact details and the relationship is yours — bookings, scheduling, invoicing, all off-platform.
You set your rate. You keep all of it.
No algorithmic rate-suppression, no "boosted" tier, no platform-set ceilings. Your profile, your terms, your hourly rate.
An honest ask
You scratch our back, we scratch yours.
We tell parents on the homepage that booking via Tutorperch is cheaper than going through a commission platform — because we don't take a cut of your hourly rate.
That pitch is only true if tutors actually price fairly here. So if you list with us and on a commission site, we'd ask you to consider quoting a slightly lower rate on Tutorperch — knowing your take-home is the same or higher because we're not skimming 25%. You don't have to. We have no way to enforce it. But it's the deal that makes everyone come out ahead.
The maths, simply: a commission site takes ~£7.50/hr from a £30/hr tutor. If you charge £25/hr here, the student pays less and you take home more. If you charge the same £30, you take home more and the student still saves on the markup. Either way, the agency is the only one losing.
We're not a charity and you're not running one either. The deal we're proposing is straightforward: we earn once per intro, you keep your full rate, and the platform doesn't sit between you and your students for years afterwards.

How tutors rank
A meritocracy. Reviews are king.
Tutors rise on Tutorperch through reviews from real students, profile depth, and DBS-verified status — not through how fast they reply, what they pay us, or any "editorial" thumb on the scale. We're committed to keeping it transparent.
No response-time penalty
You're a teacher, not a 24/7 chat agent. We don't drop you in rankings for being slow to reply.
No pay-to-rank tier
No "boosted", no "featured", no premium subscription that floats you to the top. The £20 unlock fee is the only money on the platform.
For clarity
What we don't do.
- No lesson handling. No video classroom, no scheduling, no escrow, no platform-mediated payments. You and the student arrange all of that yourselves once contact details are unlocked.
- No tutor-side fees. We never charge tutors for the introduction or for any platform feature. The unlock fee is paid by the student, not by you.
