Hello Tutors,
It's been a hectic few days, and I have a few news items to share.
Expanded Review Imports
The release of the First Tutors review import tool has understandably caused a huge response from the tutoring community. Many people have given us lovely feedback and appreciation and many have told us that their reviews are missing.
Well, I have good news. The initial extraction from the archives was incomplete and with some detective work and helpful feedback from tutors who contacted us we have vastly increased the number available.
| Statistic | Original | New |
|---|---|---|
| Reviews | 37,724 | 69,173 +83% |
| Average per Tutor | ~4 | ~7 +57% |
In all 2,638 tutors have gained additional reviews and 37 tutors who previously had none identified now have reviews.
For those who already imported your reviews — don't worry! We will add them automatically.
For those who haven't imported their reviews — now is the time. As far as we can tell, this is the complete archive.
Some of you may find that your profile still can't be found or that your reviews have not increased, and at this stage I'm afraid there is nothing to do but wait for your DSAR requests to complete per our guide.
Aggregate Scores on Profile
Many tutors pointed out that their Wayback Machine profiles showed an aggregate score, for example 4.9 stars out of 50 reviews, but we only recovered 20. This is because we counted only those reviews which we could recover the full text from. In many instances the /feedback page was not archived so we could not see it.
You'll now find that your profile aggregate score for First Tutors reviews shows, for example:
★★★★★ 150 reviews (15 imported)
Hopefully this is a fairer representation of your record on FT.
Profile Pictures
Many people were signing up to import their reviews to their Tutorperch profile but were submitting requests with no profile picture, which made it harder for us to verify they owned the reviews. We've added a 'gate' that requires you to have a profile picture before importing them. It's an extra step but it's important for integrity and to prevent people pilfering your hard-earned reviews.
As always any feedback or comments please let us know, and if you've enjoyed using Tutorperch then consider sharing with your friends and colleagues or leaving us a review on Trustpilot.
