About

Professional Profile

I hold a PhD in chemistry and have over 15 years of experience teaching and tutoring GCSE and A-level chemistry. I am also an examiner for OCR and Pearson Edexcel, which gives me detailed insight into current exam standards, question styles, and the marking process.

My teaching combines strong subject knowledge with an exam-focused approach that helps students develop both confidence and high-level problem-solving skills.

I specialise in helping students improve significantly in a short period of time. Every year, I work with students who begin Year 13 at D/E grades and go on to achieve A/A* grades through structured teaching, targeted practice, and continuous support.

Tutoring Experience

Over the years, I have developed a large collection of high-quality teaching and revision resources, including over 2300 pages of topic-based materials and exam-style questions carefully organised by specification and difficulty level.

My lessons focus on:

  • Building a deep understanding from fundamental principles

  • Applying knowledge to challenging exam questions

  • Developing exam technique and confidence

  • Identifying and targeting weak areas systematically

  • Training students to hit key marking points required by examiners

As an examiner, I understand exactly how marks are awarded and how students can maximise their performance in chemistry examinations.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching style is patient, structured, and highly supportive. I believe a strong understanding is essential at A-level chemistry, where success depends on applying knowledge rather than simply memorising facts.

What students can expect from lessons:

  • Detailed coverage of every topic in the specification

  • Step-by-step explanations of difficult concepts

  • Extensive past paper practice using questions from 2010 to the current year

  • Weekly homework with feedback and assessment

  • Ongoing support between lessons via email or WhatsApp

  • Motivation and encouragement to build confidence and independent learning

I also use:

  • Molecular models for topics such as bonding, shapes of molecules, polymers, and transition metals

  • Colourful mind maps and visual learning aids

  • Carefully structured revision resources that progress from basic understanding to advanced exam application

How we verify these

Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:

  • Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
  • Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.

The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

I am incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received from Sandip in my A-Level Chemistry studies. He has been an outstanding tutor who explains concepts with exceptional clarity. Sandip also has a lot of patience and takes the time to ensure I grasp each idea thoroughly. He never rushes through the material which I really appreciate. He also is very supportive and always encourages me to ask questions and explore the subject further. I wholeheartedly recommend Sandip to anyone looking for a dedicated and effective tutor!

Dr Sandip is a brilliant tutor! He's provided outstanding teaching and sessions for my son improving his A levels from C to A in chemistry. His tailored approach with interactive lessons, handbooks and compiled lectures together with his experience as an examiner has proven invaluable help for my 18-year old boy who recently admitted to me that for the first time he was having a reasonable understanding of chemistry. Many thanks Dr Sandip! Robert

Very good communication during the registration period. Also lessons are thought out well against your specification and he consistently checks in to ensure the best quality of teaching adapted to your learning style. I have become very hopeful and optimistic about an A grade because of Sandip.

Dr Sandip is an excellent tutor I would highly recommend. My daughter is bright and attends a selective 6th form college in London. She wants to pursue Chemistry in University, however, found the subject difficult to master, being unable to find coherent explanations for the concepts she learnt in school. After two disappointing lessons with another tutor, we found Dr Sandip. After the first lesson, she was so excited, intellectually satisfied and intrigued, literally exclaiming, “He is so good, so good, an amazing tutor.” I’ve never seen her approach teaching like that. She always asks ‘why’ and as long as she understands, she finds studying easy and Dr Sandip is able to answer all her questions with clarity and in depth. His knowledge and ability to articulate it is fantastic, not only helping her to understand but also to go beyond. Dr Sandip is very kind with whom my daughter instantly felt comfortable to learn from. He is very generous. He shares all his invaluable resources. He is very conscientious, teaching Chemistry as if he teaches his own child. He is professional, very organised, reliable always communicating with me. I cannot recommend him enough!

Dr stepped in at short notice to help my daughter gain an understanding of why she could cope well with elements of the 'A' level syllabus in isolation but struggle with an actual paper. Dr was encouraging, didn't overcomplicate things and made Organic Chemistry (particularly challenging for my daughter) accessible and clear. He has excellent resources and has undoubtedly increased my daughter's confidence and helped her to break down the question and think about it before committing pen to paper. We would wholeheartedly recommend Dr , whether you are struggling with Chemistry or just trying to find those extra marks to push you into a higher banding. Thank you Dr

    Dr Sandip replied
