About

Hello. My name is Asma. I have a passion for teaching and helping others. I am very easy going, patient and have effective communication skills. I have worked as a Discharge facilitator at a local Hospital in the Emergency Department for 8 years. As part of my job I regularly taught science related topics to new medical students who were on placements and also my team members.

I have been tutoring for over 10 years and have tutored many students who needed help with a different variety of subjects. For example I've helped pupils with their GCSE's in Science, Maths and English so that they could succeed in their exams. I have experience teaching KS3 and below Maths and English. I also teach 11 plus content and A Level Biology and Chemistry.

During a community placement I supervised a year 7 class and this experience with the children enabled me to understand their needs more and develop new skills, which are often different from adult interactions.

When I teach, I like to keep the lesson fun and interactive. I believe that the best way a person learns is if they fully understand and enjoy the way the topics are being taught. This helps to embed the content into my students long term memories. I strongly believe that a thorough understanding provides the foundation for confidently and accurately answering exam questions. I encourage my students to connect with Biology by relating it to their daily lives, so that the content is more meaningful and applicable to them. I like to simplify complex ideas by mapping them out using diagrams to help my students visualise new concepts and to see the wider context. After completing a topic I like to set out exam style questions under timed conditions to get an understanding of how much my student has learnt and to identify weakness areas. It is important for me to identify my tutees individual goals and tailor my lessons to suit their needs. I really look forward to developing a strong rapport with my students so that they feel comfortable asking any questions to maximise their learning experience.

How we verify these

Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:

  • Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
  • Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.

The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

She's very helpful with explaining and going through things I don't understand. I have been having sessions with her for several weeks and have never had any problems and she can go into a deeper understanding of things if I need. I have noticed my grades and understanding of biology increase, so I am very grateful and will continue to use her for help towards my exams.

    Asma B. replied

    Thank you Jodi!

An extremely friendly and helpful tutor. Very patient with our daughter and explains in detail each subject to make sure it is understood. Is understanding if she gets it wrong and makes sure she understands the question before moving on. Is patient and doesn't put unnecessary pressure on her. Very flexible and often will go on beyond the lesson time to guarantee understanding and learning has taken place.

    Asma B. replied

    Thank you James!

Asma has been tutoring my daughter in GCSE science for nearly 6 weeks and I can honestly say it has been an enjoyable experience for my daughter. She is starting to grasp topics/areas that she previously struggled with and her confidence has increased as a result. Asma is kind, patient and understanding. My daughter‘s progress in science has improved to the point it has not gone unnoticed in her school. She has received commendations from her science teachers because of her improvement. Thank you Asma for your continued support and I am truly grateful for everything you are doing.
