About
About You
I am a GCSE and A-Level maths specialist with 20 years’ experience helping students achieve top grades and reach their potential. I have taught hundreds of students, from school entrance candidates to A-Level learners aiming for first-choice university places. One of my students achieved an A grade at A-Level at just 10 years old.
I hold a Maths degree from Warwick University and was part of the team that set up one of the UK’s first online maths tutoring platforms, giving me extensive experience delivering highly effective online tuition. I also draw on my counselling training to support students who struggle with confidence or exam nerves, helping them stay focused and motivated.
Based in the Sussex countryside, I enjoy gardening, camping, and the outdoors.
Tutoring Experience
I began my teaching career in an Independent Secondary School in Brighton, delivering the GCSE course, and now focus exclusively on 1-to-1 tuition to maximise each student’s progress.
I have successfully supported students from school entrance exams to GCSE, A-Level, and IB, helping them achieve top grades and secure entry to their first-choice colleges and universities.
With extensive experience teaching online, I specialise in delivering highly effective lessons using the Learncube platform, combining interactive tools with exam-focused strategies to ensure students succeed.
Tutoring Approach
My aim is to create an encouraging learning environment where students can build confidence and achieve their best results.
In the first lesson, I assess the student’s current level, identify key focus areas, and agree on an individual plan tailored to their goals. Lessons are structured to target weaknesses while challenging students appropriately, helping them gain both skill and confidence.

I weekly took maths lesson with Steve for roughly 5 months to pass the GCSE exam with at least grade 6, the one necessary for the uni. My result went beyond my expectations. I got grade 7. I highly recommend Steve for 3 main reasons : - maths was my nightmare during all my previous studies, but thanks to the his way of teaching, it has become a very interesting topic for me. - after each lesson, all my questions were answered. This gave me the possibility to improve day - by - day, rather than having some questions unsolved. I would like to emphasize this aspect because Steve was the only one who could do so. Many other tutors left me really unsatisfied. - the third aspect which differentiates Steve from other tutors was his trustworthiness in terms of commitments. More precisely, we took each lesson as we planned together.

He has made excellent progress and his confidence has grown enormously since you have been tutoring him.
