About
Hi I'm Claire, I am a Science teacher with 18 years experience. I have taught Combined Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics all up to GCSE level and have experience teaching Edexcel, OCR and AQA exam boards. I have helped hundreds of students achieve their target grades or higher in Science.
I have been a one to one Science tutor since 2014 and have experience teaching both face to face and online. I have high expectations of pupils and strive to build positive relationships in order to help pupils succeed in their studies. I am a passionate teacher with great enthusiasm for my subject, I believe this is important in helping pupils to deepen their Scientific knowledge and understanding in order to gain the higher marks in exam situations.
I have a flexible approach to tutoring designed around the needs of the student. This could include past exams questions, practicing equations and calculations, reviewing class work and homework, going through different ways of revising and exam technique.
My undergraduate degree is in Forensic Science which I studied at the University of Central Lancashire, graduating with a 2:1. I then completed a PGCE in Secondary School Science Teaching at Huddersfield University followed by a Masters degree in Professional Development. I've got many hobbies and interests outside teaching including yoga, running and linedancing.

My son has been having online Science tuition with Claire now for a full school year (Year 9) and I can whole-heartedly recommend Claire as a tutor for your child. My son gets on really well with her and the sessions have definitely helped with an improvement in the school reports showing the expected exam grades noticeable as the year went on. Claire is really easy to work with as a parent too and has been very helpful and provided feedback on both how Andre could maximise his tuition sessions and also on how he has been doing at regular intervals. 5/5 for sure!!!

Claire went above and beyond in helping my Daughter with her GCSE Triple Science content, building her knowledge and confidence, she is very friendly, caring and extremely approachable. Claire is very experienced and knowledgable in the areas she teaches and also adapts her teaching style to suit the student which really helped my daughter to understand and take in what she was learning. Without Claire, my daughter wouldn’t be feeling as confident about her GCSE results, I would 100% recommend her to students that need support through GCSE’s

We chose Claire as her degree was in criminology, which my daughter wants to take at A level, and that fact she seemed kind and was a qualified science teacher. My daughter is nervous about meeting new people but Claire put her at ease instantly and within minutes of her first session with Claire she was laughing and at ease. Claire explained beautifully the topics my daughter was struggling with, particularly in Physics, and was very patient in explaining things in a way my daughter could understand and tested her all through the sessions so we know the information stuck. Communication with Claire was very easy and she took the time to understand our needs and expectations. Claire is very flexible in her approach tailoring sessions to my daughters need for that week making for a comfortable learning environment and to be able to ask questions. Claire has been REALLY helpful with my daughter going over topics which she has found more difficult while preparing for her GCSE. She immediately put my daughter at ease and my daughter found her style easy to understand. Often if it is a topic you find difficult, you Will ignore it but Claire has helped Katie grasp parts that she hasn’t found easy at school. We would definitely recommend Claire
