AQA A-Level Psychology Tutor - 8 years experience - Warwick educated
About
Hi, I’m Dan – a Psychology graduate from the University of Warwick, currently completing a part-time MSc in Big Data and Digital Futures at Warwick, where I am on track for a Distinction. Alongside this, I work full-time as a Data Analyst and have been tutoring for approximately 8 years.
My educational journey was not straightforward. I grew up in a working-class area of East London with limited support around me, and my own experience of Psychology teaching was poor. Most of what I achieved academically came through determination, self-teaching, and a strong desire to create opportunities for myself. That drive ultimately led me to study Psychology at Warwick, where I graduated with a 2:1, before later completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Covert Action, HUMINT, and the Psychology of Intelligence Elicitation at the University of Buckingham, achieving a Merit.
I am also autistic, which has given me first-hand experience of the challenges that some students face within education. As a result, I place a strong emphasis on adapting my teaching style to suit individual learners rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
Alongside my studies and professional work, I have contributed to academic research and am a named author on three peer-reviewed publications relating to autism, mental health, and participatory research. These include papers published in Autism in Adulthood, Neurodiversity, and the Journal of Participatory Research Methods.
Because of my background, tutoring has never been about earning money for me. I genuinely care about helping students achieve the best possible outcomes, especially those who may lack confidence or feel unsupported. I understand how overwhelming A-Level Psychology can feel, and I aim to make the subject engaging, structured, and genuinely understandable.
As part of tuition with me, students receive access to my complete bank of AQA A-Level Psychology resources, including PowerPoints covering every topic in the specification. These can be shared through either iCloud or OneDrive, depending on preference.
My teaching approach is heavily based on active recall and verbal quizzing. This is grounded in Psychology itself – actively retrieving information strengthens memory connections far more effectively than simply rereading notes or recognising information on a page. Sessions are therefore highly interactive and focused on building long-term understanding and confidence.
We also work extensively on exam technique through guided exam questions and mock papers. I am happy to mark work outside paid lesson time free of charge, as I know consistent feedback is one of the most important factors in improving performance.
Whether a student aims to pass confidently or achieve top grades, my goal is always the same: to help them reach their full potential while making the process less stressful and more manageable.

How we verify these
Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:
- Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
- Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.
The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

Daniel is an excellent tutor, he helped me immensely in understanding some topics in psychology which I founded challenging. The PowerPoints and mind maps which are provided by him made me confident about my upcoming exam (papers). So I would recommend him for individuals looking for higher grades and better understanding in psychology.

We haven't yet been able to work with Daniel (our fault not his) but he has offered exactly what my daughter needs and we look forward to her working with him.
