Dr H.

I am a doctorate-level, published academic author and former university lecturer with over 20 years' experience supporting students at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate level, including PhD students in the UK and internationally.

I help students develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in their academic work, from planning assignments, structuring essays and improving academic writing to conducting literature reviews, developing research projects, analysing data and preparing for PhD upgrades and vivas.

Alongside my teaching experience, I bring extensive expertise in academic research, writing, editing and assessment. I understand what universities expect and how to help students meet those expectations whilst developing their own ideas and independent work practices.

My approach is friendly, flexible and practical. Every session is tailored to the student's individual goals, learning needs and circumstances. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas and addressing challenges, with constructive feedback and guidance to help them move forward.

Over the years, my students have achieved improved grades, successful PhD upgrades and positive viva outcomes. Just as importantly, they have developed the confidence and skills to approach their academic work more independently.
