About
I am a mathematics teacher at an outstanding comprehensive secondary & sixth form school in Redbridge (18 years). I have a First Class Honours Masters in science degree in Mathematics and Astrophysics and received several prizes over my years at university for achieving outstanding results in my exams. I also have a PGCE in mathematics from the Institute of Education. I am the head of A level mathematics at my school in charge of developing and delivering the new A level specification. I love teaching maths which is why I am offering tutoring service on the weekend and weekday evenings.
*Fees for 1-2-1 lessons: £50-£60 (online or in person depending on location).
The online sessions are designed to complement school teachings and exam preparation. I will be revising/teaching topics, going over exam questions/papers and providing support for homework. Students can also email me with requests to cover specific topics. Students will have access to the class notes via Microsoft OneNote for all sessions to go back and revise or to make their own notes.
EXPERIENCE
Over my years I have taught all ability groups in KS3 and GCSE mathematics with my upper sets achieving 100% grade 7+. (90% grade 8+ before covid). I also teach further mathematics at GCSE and A level taking the further mechanics options route in A level (100% A*-C). I also teach International A level iAL modules P1, P2, P3, P4, M1 and M2.
APPROACH
I support my students by building on their experiences and knowledge as they are introduced to new concepts in mathematics. I always start with the basics assuming no prior knowledge building up their confidence before making links to new topics. I can provide a tailored study programme to: * consolidate and strengthen topics currently being taught at school or areas needing improvement on * prepare for exams and revising through past papers * achieve desired exam grade and unlock potential to possible achieve higher Online Tuition will be via zoom and will be using a digital whiteboard to interact with my tutees. I will provide resources from text books and various websites that I frequently use with my students at school (including exam and test papers).

Ferdus is an incredibly dedicated and supportive tutor. The sessions are tailored to my son's needs and my son says he explains things very well, but if he doesn't understand he feels comfortable enough to ask Ferdus to explain things further which Ferdus always does. My son is making good progress with Ferdus. I highly recommend Ferdus as an A Level maths tutor.

We have only had 3 lessons and 3 group lessons with Ferdus , however so far the feedback from my son is excellent. He said “ he really knows his stuff mum!!” He’s pleasant yet professional. He’s punctual and replies to emails quickly. My son has grown in confidence in this short time and feels that he will do better with his help . We are really pleased we have found him !

Ferdus tutored my son several months leading up to his Further Maths and Maths GCSE June 23. His mock score was a U in Further Maths and Ferdus brought him up to a 7 as well as an 8 in Maths! I wanted to get my daughter some extra maths tuition before her exams so contacted Ferdus and he was able to help with this. Ferdus was always very accomodating in planning in lessons when we wanted them and always communicated with me before the lessons to confirm. Ferdus is an excellent tutor and highly recommended for GCSE Mathematics. Always punctual, courteous and provided very good communication at all times. His engagement with our daughter was very good. Offers good flexibility around tuition times and was happy to come to our home for each session. Homework was set after each session, although our daughter wasn't the best at completing the home work, Ferdus would always encourage completion and then review at the next session. Would highly recommend Ferdus for home tuition in Mathematics GCSE. Thanks for all your efforts Ferdus. Hope to use you again for daughter number two…

Ferdus has been tutoring my son for a year now following a low AS level grade (E). Ferdus has been fantastic, he explains the topic’s clearly and his approach really suited him. He was very patient when my son struggled with certain topics and was able to get him to understand things that initially he’d found difficult. My son’s confidence in his ability has grown as a result of these sessions and he is now on track to hopefully achieve a B at A level. Ferdus is an excellent tutor. He is very polite, extremely supportive and also very committed. He is tutoring my twin for GCSE. I’ve noticed that Ferdus is always on time, very organised and does more than the agreed time. It clearly shows his commitment and passion for Maths and tutoring. It is hard to find tutors like him.
