About

I’m here to help students unlock their full potential and achieve the very best grades and university places they can.

* I have over ten years' tutoring experience
* I work for one of the UK's leading exam boards as an assessor (marker) for GCSE and A-level, which gives me great insight into how to achieve exam success.
* I teach exam revision classes in schools

Perhaps your child is struggling in a subject and needs to boost their confidence, exam technique and motivation. Or perhaps they are doing well and would like someone to push them that extra bit further. I am a full-time professional tutor with a truly exceptional track record. Because this is my livelihood, your child's progress is my absolute priority. I am very friendly and develop good working relationships with my tutees and their parents. Most of my new students come through recommendations from previous families.

Get in touch and we can talk about how we can realise your goals!

Just a few of the comments from last summer's results days:
"Dear Felix, Sam got excellent results in her GCSES. Fantastic - thank you so much for your great help, she couldn't have done it without you! She is so happy and relieved!"
"Hi Felix, Anna is absolutely thrilled with her results. 9 9 8!!! And one mark away from a 9 in biology too! Thank you so much for all your help. She says a big big thank you!"
"Alex did really well, she got 7 in biology, 7 in chemistry and physics. We are so proud of the progress she's made!! Thank you very much for all the help and support you have provided him."
"Off to Imperial! Thank you so much for all your help!"

Approach
Every child is different, and I pride myself in always finding a bespoke approach to my lessons to suit a particular student.

Often parents and students also ask for help with motivation, organisation and general approach to academic life – especially in exam years when discipline and revision are key. My role is not just supporting the student during our lesson, but giving them the tools and confidence to make the most of their school lessons, school homework, and revision. Students tend to like, trust and respect me – and take advice from me that they wouldn't necessarily from their parents! I am extremely patient and supportive, and very easy to get along with; my lessons are a space where students feel at ease to ask questions and get as much help and encouragement as they need. However, I also know from experience that students who give their best achieve their best – so I encourage and expect this from those I tutor. With parents' permission, I will generally set homework in between my lessons to reinforce the learning.

A bit more about me:
I have a first class degree from Cambridge University in Natural Sciences.
I am an examiner for one of the main UK exam boards for GCSE and A level, so I have a great insight into what is required for exam success – from exam technique to the common mistakes to avoid.
I have recently worked with Cambridge University Press as a writer on their resources for the new GCSE syllabus.

How we verify these

Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:

  • Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
  • Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.

The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

Felix tutored me Physics in the last half of Year 13, my A-Level year. He is a great teacher for two main reasons. Firstly, having been a marker himself for exam boards, he knows how the mark scheme is applied to the tests and in this regard he has helped me enormously with exam techniques, ensuring that I write the essential but in an efficient way. Secondly, and even more importantly for me, he did not only help me cover the curriculum content, clarifying topics I was unsure about, but he also stretched me to think outside of purely the A-Level content. This helped me appreciate topics better and understand them more thoroughly, and when he does this he doesn’t just teach but rather converses and asks questions to help the student reach the answers and concepts by themself, which at the end of the day, is what learning is all about. Thank you Felix for helping me achieve an A* in Physics!

It was a pleasure working with you over the last year, and I'm delighted that you'll be starting your adventure in Oxford this year!

My daughter started tutor lessons with Felix a few weeks ago. Felix is a lovely guy who is very approachable and easy to talk to. He made my daughter feel at ease and ready to learn. He is always punctual and keeps me updated with what my daughter needs to do next. I’m happy we chose Felix as a tutor, he is very professional.
