  I’ve had a fantastic experience with Gemma as my daughter's Nat 5 History tutor. She explains topics clearly and breaks down complex events into manageable sections, which has made a huge difference in her understanding. Her lessons are always well-organised and focused on exactly what’s needed for the Nat 5 exam. Gemma is patient, supportive, and always happy to go over anything I find challenging. Since working with her, my daughter feels much more prepared and capable in History. I would highly recommend Gemma to anyone studying Nat 5 who wants to improve their grades and feel more confident going into the exam.

  Gemma tutored my son in Higher History and is an excellent tutor. She made sure my son was thoroughly prepared for his Higher History exam helping him to achieve an A.

She provided clear explanations, structured guidance, and excellent support with both the coursework and exam preparation.   I was looking for a Higher SQA History Tutor for my granddaughter and fortunately found Gemma on Firsttutors. Gemma is very personable and has an incredible ability to connect and nurture her tutees. She was responsive to emails and very focussed with a great depth of knowledge in her subject. On several occassions going the extra distance to make sure my grandaughter felt reassured and confident in what was expected of her in preparation for her exam. My granddaughter looked forward to and always came away feeling positive from her weekly sessions with Gemma. You won’t be disappointed if you choose Gemma as your childs tutor one word describes her Amazing!

  Gemma is an excellent tutor who has really helped my daughter with her Higher history. She has a great way of finding how the young person learns are works with them to make sure they understand the course content. She also went over and above outside of hours marking past papers at any time we sent them over. Highly recommend

  Can't rate Gemma highly enough as a tutor - she's the kind of teacher you wish you had at school. Gemma was engaging, enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable on the subject matter, taking time ahead of the lesson to prepare slides for the lesson and then she also marked essays midweek after the lesson and provided feedback on those. She was excellent at providing tips on how best to answer exam questions and it was really useful to have her knowledge of SQA marking to help understand where to get marks. Definitely go for Gemma as a tutor as she was just what my son needed to boost his grades and his confidence!

  Gemma was an ‘amazing’ tutor!! She always came extremely well prepared and would consolidate/expand any queries my daughter had in relation to her Higher History topics. Considering that my daughter did Higher History as a crash and achieved an A Grade is testimony to Gemma’s fabulous teaching styles. Would ‘highly’ recommend- first class tutor!!

  Gemma is a great tutor. Her teaching skills are great and she has given my son some great strategies to use for answering exam questions. Also Gemma is great at encouraging and motivating the student to enjoy History. So glad I found Gemma on First Tutors to help my son. Would highly recommend

  We have had Gemma for just one session and my daughter found her tuition very beneficial. Gemma was very well prepared and wasted no time in getting to know in which area of History my daughter was having difficulty and worked very well with her, leaving my daughter more confident. My daughter is looking forward to Gemma's tuition next week.

Gemma has a genuine understanding of the new SQA qualifications and how marks are awarded in the assignments & exams.She tutors my son in History & Modern Studies and I would have no hesitation in recommending her as a tutor for these subjects.

  I would highly recommend Gemma as a tutor - she is a real gem! She is a little dynamo who helped my son to secure A passes in both his Higher History and Modern Studies exams - against the odds. She arrived on time bringing masses of extra course material, explained the subjects clearly, set and marked endless amounts of homework, and was EXTREMELY patient with him, All this she did with a smile. If you choose Gemma for a tutor you will be very lucky indeed. Thanks Gemma.
