About
I graduated in Physics from Liverpool University 1985. I teach Maths and Physics up to A level and Chemistry up to GCSE. I have worked as a private tutor for over 40 years and have worked in adult education in Liverpool Community College. I do not currently provide lessons on line but will travel to you within a reasonable distance from south Liverpool. I arrive on time and give a relaxed class that goes at your pace not mine. If you are under 18 then there must be another adult in the house while I am there just to ensure everyone's peace of mind. I look forward to meeting you soon and making your Maths, Physics and Chemistry problems go away.

John tutored our son in A level physics. John was extremely reliable and always prepared. At the end of every session he would discuss with our son what he wanted to go through the following week so he could prepare accordingly. When our son took his AS levels this year his mark improved. My son found the step upfrom GCSE physics to A level challenging so we sought help with First Tutors. John's help was invaluable. He gave him his confidence with the subject back. He is reliable and flexible with an easy style of teaching . Face to face teaching with topics led by the student and taught with a calm and patient demenour. He helped my son get into his first choice Uni to study the subject he wanted. Would definately recommend.

John was reliable and flexible. Helped my daughter who was failing ALevel Physics in September21 after no tuition through college in Covid. He tailored each lesson around her requests she said he was very good with explaining highlighting important points and had his own good resources. Helped her confidence to tackle ALevel exam. Also did some required Maths too. She gained B in Maths and C in Physics near to B grade obtained her 1st choice University but starting a Degree Apprenticeship in Engineering. Thanks for your help and bringing her back from the brink .

My son Jamie was in his final year of his GCSEs, his confidence was not great in maths or science hence i contacted 'first tutors'. We chose John for both maths & science, who was always on time and stayed back an extra 10 minutes each visit. If at times we couldn't fit John in he was very accommodating on rearranging another time. My sons confidence grew over the academic year, surely with the one to one from john and with his technique in teaching. My son passed his maths & science, no doubt with Johns help. John was very helpful despite me seeking help near the end of my second year of A levels. He allowed me to choose the topics I wanted to study at the beginning of each session, helping me to advance in each of my weakest areas. John adapts to your best learning style and would spend time to ensure you have a deep knowledge of each topic before moving on, even if this meant spending an extra 10 minutes at the end of your session. I highly recommend his tutoring to anybody struggling with their Physics (or Maths) A level course!
