About
I am a qualified teacher having been awarded a PGCE from the University of Cambridge. I also have a First Class Bachelors degree. I previously taught at Queen's College Preparatory School, London and now teach online for Eton College. I am a member of the professional body for tutors; a member of the Chartered College of Teaching; Qualified Tutor; and the General Teaching Council of England. I regularly undertake CPD courses including safeguarding training. I am also a member and certified agent of the Boarding Schools' Association.
I have four young children of my own and enjoy working with children and helping them to become interested in and succeed in schoolwork. All of my children attend UK independent schools and I have extensive experience in this sector.
I have helped students prepare for and succeed in gaining entry to top UK selective schools at 4+, 7+, 11+ and 13+. I have also successfully helped students obtain full academic scholarships to several independent schools as well as helping those secure a place who find exams difficult. All lessons are online via Zoom.
Tutoring Experience
Qualified from the University of Cambridge with a PGCE. I taught for two years at Queen's College Preparatory School, London before starting private tuition. I have been tutoring for 20 years in English, Maths, Science, Reasoning and Interview Skills. Further private tutoring for 4+, 7+, 11+ and 13+ School Entrance Exams, Scholarship Exams, Common Entrance Exams and the ISEB pre-test. I also provide guidance on school selection and have written a guide to the top independent schools in the UK and their admissions processes. It is never too early to start preparation for competitive school entrance exams and many students prepare for several years.
Tutoring Approach
Tailor made approach for each individual suited to help students get the best grade possible in exams. Homework is given after each lesson and feedback is provided to parents. My students have several online learning tools that they can use. One is very similar to the ISEB pre-test and another is an online reading platform where thousands of books can be read along with comprehension, spelling and vocabulary questions.
I also offer an academic assessment for students aged 6 to 16 which gives a detailed analysis of standardised age scores, a full report and consultation.
I teach online using Zoom and have helped UK and international students prepare for entrance exams to selective schools such as Eton, Harrow, Radley, Wycombe Abbey, Westminster, King's College School, Magdalen, Guildford High School, St Paul's, Downe House, Benenden, Winchester, Brighton College, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, City of London, Hampton, Concord College, North London Collegiate, The Perse, St Edward's, Charterhouse, Marlborough and Cheltenham Ladies' College. I regularly use WeChat and WhatsApp to communicate with parents that are overseas so I can be easily contacted. I have extensive experience teaching children from all over the world who do not have English as a first language. I have taught children in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, USA, Canada, UK, France, Norway, Switzerland, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, the Seychelles, Mauritius and the Maldives.

How we verify these
Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:
- Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
- Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.
The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

Juliet helped my son prepare for 13+ entrance exams. She was an outstanding tutor and gave my son a real confidence boost in a relatively short space of time. My son really enjoyed the lessons and found renewed motivation. He was ultimately successful in the entrance exams and offered a place. I cannot recommend Juliet highly enough. She is a wonderful teacher and we were so grateful to benefit from her vast experience and knowledge.

If you are looking for a tutor who can give a structured and well-organized teaching, Juliet is the best. We have tried different tutors but Juliet so far is the most experienced. She has very structured way of teaching. She assessed my daughter's ability thoroughly and she can spot her problems immediately. She covers all the areas of English and she delivers them in a very organized way. We especially like the way she teaches writing. It is systemic, organized and active. to be honest once my daughter has one lesson she could immediately structure her writing much better than before. I would definitely recommend Juliet to any of my friends
Juliet replied
Thank you so much for your kind feedback and I am so pleased that I have helped your daughter. Many thanks also for recommending me to your friends!

My daughter was already doing extremely well at a local school but lacked self belief and confidence to prepare her for entrance exams which she was due to sit at a school in a new area as the family was relocating. We were simply delighted with the teaching methods of Juliet. My daughter loved going to her lessons with Juliet and her confidence just grew but not only in terms of her academic subjects but her whole insight to learning. She developed this amazing self belief of "yes I can do this" which i put down down to Juliet's inspiration and techniques. As a result of Juliet's wonderful methods and guidance my daughter flew through the entrance exams to two independent schools. Thank you Juliet.
Juliet replied
Thank you for your comments. It was such a delight to work with your daughter and I am so pleased that she gained entrance to her chosen senior schools.

Thank you for tutoring my daughter in the run up to her Biology AS exams. The tutoring was very professional, with sessions well run and organised but the welcome always friendly and approachable. This assisted her in her understanding of the subject and she did well in her exams
Juliet replied

Juliet tutored our daughter for her 11+ exam, the sessions were structured and well planned. She was patient and helpful and always took time to explain to us the work had been covered. Our daughter enjoyed the sessions and they helped build and enhance her knowledge which has been of great benefit. I would highly recommend Juliet.
Juliet replied
Your daughter improved her confidence in her own abilities, always completed the homework tasks with care and asked questions when unsure.

Juliet has been a tutor to my daughter when she was in year 5 from January - October 2018 and I am pleased to say that it has been one of the best decisions we have made. Over the course of 10 months, we have seen a material improvement in our daughter's academic achievements and her confidence and understanding of core subjects such as Maths and English. We believe this is attributable to the time she has spent each week with Juliet. Juliet is a very punctual and reliable tutor who is very knowledgeable about the subject matter of school curricular and entrance exams. Her experience is able to develop any child's learning skill and they would certainly benefit from her guidance, patience and support. I would certainly make no hesitation in recommending Juliet as the preferred tutor to any parent who is looking to access and provide the best assistance and quality support to their child. Juliet has been helping our son with preparing for the 11+ grammar school exams. We are very happy with the work Juliet did with him; she is very patient and knowledgeable and he loves going to his extra lessons with her. Although we are currently not having lessons with Juliet because of other commitments, we hope to resume soon to give our son the best possible chance of succeeding in his exams.
Juliet replied

Juliet has been invaluable in helping with Robert's English and also in providing additional support in entrance exams for secondary school. Robert enjoys his extra lessons and works hard for Juliet and I receive valuable feedback from Juliet on the areas Robert has been working on. I had originally intended to have additional support for Robert for a short time, but now plan to continue to use Juliet for a longer period of time.
Juliet replied
Robert has been a pleasure to teach and I look forward to the lessons with him. He always listens carefully and takes care with his homework. He is fully engaged in the lessons and has made great progress with his English.
