About
I am a qualified maths teacher with a first class maths degree from the University of Oxford. I have taught maths in age 11-18 schools and tutored students of this age and above, mainly for KS3, GCSE, AS and A Level. I enjoy working with students on a one-to-one basis, allowing us to concentrate on the areas most beneficial to their progress. I am calm and considered and my students are comfortable to ask me any questions they may have.

Reviews from First Tutors
Imported from Julie's First Tutors profile before the site went dark. Shown separately from Tutorperch reviews — today they don't feed this tutor's Tutorperch rating or ranking.
How we verify these
Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:
- Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
- Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.
The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

I am very glad that I chose Julie. It has been 3 weeks since she started the lessons and it has been very helpful for my daughter.

Julie has been a fantastic support for our daughter. She's helped her through her last year of GCSE, helping her understand difficult topics and building her confidence to approach difficult questions and exam strategies. We highly recommend Julie as a first class tutor!

Julie has been tutoring my son for gcse maths since September and since that time we’ve noticed a huge improvement in Sams understanding and confidence . Sam summed it up by saying that Julie makes the difficult stuff seem really easy ! Thank you so much and when life returns to normal we hope to be back !

Julie is a great tutor. She has really helped my daughter with her maths. I have seen a noticeable change in my daughters confidence levels and seen significant improvement in her maths scores. She also feels comfortable with Julie, which of course puts my mind at ease. I would highly recommend Julie when it comes to Tutoring. Thanks Julie.

You are obviously very knowledgeable however you failed to put my daughter at ease, leaving her feeling awkward throughout the hours tutorial.
Julie replied
Thank you for your comment. I enjoyed tutoring your daughter for her one session with me. I am very sorry to hear that she was not at ease. She was a delight to tutor, she interacted well and asked plenty of good questions. I am glad you managed to find a tutor closer to home and I wish your daughter every success for her future.

My son attended 6 sessions prior to his core maths exams. Julie was really good at putting him at his ease. I gave her a list of the syllabus with the areas he needed help on. She went through them all, always clarifying his understanding. He gained confidence during the sessions because they worked through the questions together. Leading up to his exams his marks have improved on past papers. The sessions were reasonably priced and good value. I would happily recommend Julie to friends and family.
