About

I am a native French speaker, born and educated in Paris where I graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Arts & Master's degree in Languages from the Sorbonne University.

I subsequently moved to England where, after obtaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, I worked as a full time French teacher for over 25 years, taking thousands of students through their GCSE and A'level exams . For 10+ years I was the sole teacher and examiner of all the A'Level students at my last school.

Some years ago I retired from classroom teaching to devote myself to one to one tuition, ( and teaching Pilates!) all the while keeping up with changes in the various syllabuses and exploring the opportunities offered by technological advances.

I have wide experience in tutoring at all levels, from KS3 to undergraduates, including adult students eager to develop or reinforce their conversational skills.

The bulk of my teaching is online via Teams, Zoom or WhatsApp, as this is more flexible for both teacher and tutee. However when convenient I can also accommodate people at home if they are more comfortable with an in person experience.

Having assessed a student's needs and established their personal aims, I tailor lessons and homework according to this, using textbooks, past papers, worksheets, online resources and most of all my own extensive material in order to optimise learning.

I consider myself a very dedicated teacher, eager to see my students progress and enjoy learning about French culture at the same time as they improve their command of the language.

The overwhelming majority of my tutees progress faster, get motivated and achieve their full potential at the level they wish to achieve.

As an example I can cite the case of a Year 10 student who obtained a grade 9 in his GCSE French exam last August ( he wanted to sit the exam early and could not have lessons at school) with the sole benefit of my tuition from January to May/June 2025.

Lest year again another tutee who had been predicted a grade 7 in her French GCSE exam obtained a grade 9 after only 2 months of tuition

Another student living in Australia and whom I had been tutoring from the equivalent of Year 10, obtained a scholarship at Cambridge University.

How we verify these

Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:

  • Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
  • Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.

The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

Michele tutored our daughter in French A' Level from April of Year 12 to April of Year 13, right up to the A Level oral exam. Thanks to Covid, my daughter had spent very little time in France in spite of taking A level. In addition, neither my husband nor I speak French so we knew it was going to be very challenging for her to get a good grade in French, which has very high grade boundaries. Michele really helped her with both her oral and written French - my daughter frequently remarked how much she helped her with her French grammar. My daughter got 57/60 in speaking and an A* overall, and got into her first choice university: we are tremendously grateful to Michele, and would not hesitate to recommend her as a tutor.

Michèle is very familiar with the A Level specification, and is an excellent tutor. Having assessed my child's language needs she's provided ample practice to address those needs and clear up any misconceptions. Michèle clearly explains grammar to my son, who finds the extra lesson a week very useful.

Michele is doing a wonderful job working with our son on part of his French A2. Her experience and confidence shines through and our son is over the moon with both the standard of tutoring and also Michele's ability to stretch his capabilities as far as possible. He did well in the AS and so wants to aim for the highest A2 grade and we have complete confidence in Michele's ability to help our son push forward to perform to his full potential. Also Michele is a delightful person and easy to work with.

Thank you very much for your kind words Michael. I will do my best to continue to live up to them!

Michèle helps my daughter, Liza, to prepare for her AS level exam and I want to say that she is a great tutor: very professional, experienced and knowledgeable. What I find very important is that Michèle gives Liza exactly what needs for getting a high mark, she is also very enthusiastic and supportive. My daughter finds her lessons very helpful as well as enjoyable and really looks forward to each one. Thank you very much, Michèle!
