I am an experienced Biology teacher with 24 years’ success teaching KS3, KS4 and A level, supported by a strong academic and research background. I hold a First-Class Honours degree in Microbiology and a Ph.D. and spent several years working in university research before moving into teaching.

For the past nineteen years I have taught in independent schools, where I also served as Head of Biology. These roles provided extensive experience teaching students for whom English was an additional language. I taught AQA GCSE Biology and A level, while my earlier work in comprehensive schools involved delivering WJEC specifications. I completed my PGCE in 2002.

I have been an examiner for four years, giving me a detailed understanding of assessment objectives and the skills students need to achieve top grades. I specialise in teaching exam classes, helping students build confidence, refine exam technique, and master key terminology through clear explanations, personalised structured tasks, and meaningful feedback.

I also support students in developing practical skills, data analysis, and application of knowledge responses, areas many learners find challenging. My teaching approach is calm, organised, and consistently focused on improving student outcomes.
