I am a highly experienced Spanish tutor with over 12 years of teaching experience, specialising in GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, IB and university-level Spanish, as well as general Spanish as a Foreign Language lessons for adults and learners who want to improve their fluency, grammar and confidence. I have worked extensively with students across the UK education system and have helped many learners improve their grades through clear grammar explanations, targeted exam practice and structured speaking, writing and translation work.
My lessons are rigorous but supportive. I focus on identifying each student’s weaknesses quickly, then building confidence through precise feedback, carefully designed tasks and practical strategies for improving accuracy, fluency and complexity. For GCSE students, I work on vocabulary, grammar, role plays, photo cards, writing and translation. For A-Level and IB students, I focus on advanced grammar, essay technique, oral exams, IRP preparation, stimulus cards and developing more sophisticated Spanish. For university students, I can help with grammar, translation, essay writing, oral presentations, academic accuracy and Spanish language modules. For general Spanish learners, I offer structured lessons focused on communication, grammar, vocabulary and real progress in spoken and written Spanish.
I hold a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and I am completing a PhD. I have also taught in academic settings in Spain and have many years of experience preparing British students for Spanish exams. Excellent tutor. I would highly recommend him. I contacted Enrique regarding a speaking engagement in a formal, professional setting. Enrique helped me translate the script and practice the delivery. I worked with him on certain subtleties like the level of formality of the greeting, and whether or not certain technical terms had a natural sounding Spanish translation or should be left in English. I was very happy with the outcome. I felt prepared on the day and a successful result followed. In addition to being an effective and insightful teacher, I found Enrique to be a kind and genuine person, and very responsive and professional when it came to arranging lessons. By the summer of 2023, our 16 year old daughter, Emily, was really struggling with Spanish and was worried for her GCSE grade the following year. She had lost confidence and felt she was falling further and further behind in her school lessons. From her very first session with Enrique, Emily felt so much happier. He was friendly and easy to talk through and took her through the basics to find out what she knew (or didn't know!) without making her feel self conscious. Ten months later, Emily has grown so much in confidence and ability the difference is amazing. She is now predicted a GCSE grade 2 levels higher than last summer. Emily says the way that Enrique approached each session in a structured way really helped her to see how she was making progress. At school she feels that she has more than caught up with the rest of the class and now her friends are asking her how to put together sentences! I had initially planned ten lessons just to see how I would get on - five lessons in, I will definitely be booking more. Enrique is so easy to get on with. He is encouraging and always finding the positives in all my mistakes. He adapts to every situation so that if we start on one topic but notices I am struggling with a particularly area, he can instantly change track to focus on that difficulty.
