About
I am passionate about teaching mathematics and helping students succeed. I offer tuition in both A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. I have over 30 years experience of teaching and I am also an examiner for Edexcel A Level Mathematics. This gives me an insight into best practice when answering examination questions. I am patient and understanding and have helped many students to achieve their potential and secure the highest possible grade in their examinations. I tutor online and my students find my lessons both enjoyable and extremely valuable in helping them to progress. I hold a first class degree in mathematics.

How we verify these
Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:

Alison provided weekly lessons in mechanics on line from April to June 2025 for my daughter Charlie to support her in the run up to her Maths Edexcel A level exams. Charlie had been expected by her school to get a grade D (or just possibly C) in Maths. We have just heard that she got a good B. We are delighted! Charlie liked Alison's approach: Alison asked Charlie to answer exam-type questions, let Charlie do the work and gently provided help if Charlie was struggling.

Alison is an excellent tutor. My son really enjoys her A-level lessons. Her explanations are clear and concise and she gives space for the student to work out where they have gone wrong before intervening. My son finds this particularly helpful because he is a confident Maths student who achieved high GCSE grades, so he appreciates the challenge and space to develop as a mathematician. He is always so enthusiastic after his session each week and really feels he has learned something. I would wholeheartedly recommend Alison as a tutor.

Alison is an excellent tutor. She is able to break down and explain difficult concepts very effectively and is able to develop exam techniques in order to gain maximum marks. Alison is extremely enthusiastic and my son has made excellent progress and has become much more motivated as a result of her tutoring. I would highly recommend Alison.

We have found her to be extremely reliable and my daughter found the tuition to be a great help in working towards her finals A-level in Maths. My daughter found her very knowledgeable patient and able to offer a variety of methods in helping her to explain the subject. I found her very professional and she came across as genuinely interested in Rachel doing well . Rachel went to achive A* in her maths. I would have no problem in recommending her to any of my friends with children requiring help in maths .
