About
My name is Jenny, and I love tutoring in any of the Sciences: Biology, Chemistry and Physics at GCSE (combined or separate) and their Scottish equivalent National 4/5. I am especially passionate about Biology in which I tutor A-level and Higher students, as well as struggling undergraduate and postgraduate students. I also love Maths, and tutor students aged 10-14 in Maths and Numeracy (including SATs) as well as older students struggling with the subject.
I have a degree and PhD in Zoology with research in the fields of Molecular and Cell Biology, Immunology and Evolution, so I am well qualified to guide students studying advanced topics in A-level Biology and similar courses, as well as having experience in many of the required practicals for students aged 14-18.
With experience in Further Education and Learning Support, I have gained a lot of understanding in assisting SEND students, with e.g. autism, ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia. I have been working as a professional tutor since 2012 and I am happy to assist students that are not achieving their expected grades, students that are really struggling or those that want to gain grades for access to higher level courses.
I have a large set of educational resources including Molymod molecular models, reagents for food tests, past papers and exam question compilations, and will always tailor my tuition sessions to each student's particular exam specification and preferences. Students like my patience, thoroughness, humour and empathy, and I spend a lot of time assisting with exam technique, specific vocabulary and understanding complex processes.
When I am not tutoring I enjoy Science Fiction and Fantasy, a wide range of 60s, 70s and 80s music, aerobics and knitting interesting creatures.

My daughter loves coming for her A level Biology sessions with Jenny and I’ve seen her confidence improve in the short time (approx 6 weeks) since she’s been attending.
