About
I am an Oxford Graduate in Engineering, with many years' experience in private tuition in Maths and Science. I worked as an engineer for ten years prior to having children and now work mainly in education. I especially enjoy working with young people, and like finding ways to explain things so that students can get to grips with them and really grow in confidence.
I have been tutoring students on and off for over 35 years, with tutoring being my main profession since 2012. I have a good success rate with tutoring to GCSE and A Level Maths and Physics, as well as teaching younger students in Science and Literacy. I particularly enjoy tutoring students who need extra help to reach their potential and achieve a better grade. I have experience in tutoring neurodivergent students, particularly those with ADHD and autism. I also have several years' experience as a peripatetic music teacher, and teaching antenatal classes.
I strive to see the subject or the problem from the student's point of view, so that I can enable them to see where the next step lies and help them take it. In this way the student progresses step by step towards their goal and exam success. I aim to enable students to grow in confidence as they come to understand topics which were previously confusing. I like teaching 1-to-1, as this enables me to meet each student's needs, and I can explain things and tailor exam preparation in a way personally suited to that student.

A big thank you to Sarah for her outstanding teaching support, reliability and when occasionally needed, flexibility in the mostly weekly schedule for over a year. It helped my daughter's A level physics and maths understanding, and to focus on understanding the questions being asked and structure to answer. Daughter has now passed her A-levels, is less stressed, and now looking forward to her next University journey in life. A good chunk of credit to Sarah and her calmness and patience. Being a student who had to resit a year due to not achieving a satisfactory grade in physics, I decided to look out for a tutor to help me with my studies. Sarah has helped me become more confident in physics and go from achieving D’s to A’s/A*’s. Some of the complex topics covered in physics were hard for me to gain an understanding of, however, Sarah’s ability to explain these topics and help me apply that knowledge to exam-style questions has been a great help in achieving those top grades. Sarah was always optimising what I got out of each session and due to this I have now finished my physics A-level exams with a great feeling of confidence in the exams I just sat. Sarah has been providing A Level Physics tuition for my daughter over the past few weeks and has been fantastic. My son recently finished his first year of Physics A-level and got a very poor grade in the mock so we opted for a tutor for the first time to help him catch up during the summer. Sarah has been tutoring my son A-Level Physics for several months. She is an excellent all round tutor both academically and educationally in the true sense of the word. Sarah is excellent. She has taught Maths to our daughter and son and they have achieved excellent GCSE's. Their grades were well above what they were originally predicted. We have recommended her to many of our friends and will continue to do so. Sarah has always been punctual and given our children the full amount of time. She never tired at repeating topics until they understood them and always maintained a very positive approach. We cannot recommend her highly enough.
