Lee W.
Maths, Science & specialist Physics tutor since 2012 | Primary, Secondary, GCSE & A-Level
About
Hi, I'm Lee! I'm a graduate of the University of Liverpool with over 13 years' experience as a Maths, Science and specialist Physics tutor.
I have been a private tutor since September 2012, teaching GCSE & A-Level Maths and GCSE Science, including Physics and Chemistry up to A-Level. I also support students preparing for Functional Skills, entrance exams, and offer guidance on revision strategies and techniques.
My tutoring approach is tailored to each student's needs. Before we begin, I like to meet with the student and their parent or guardian to get to know them and develop a teaching plan. Once I have assessed the student’s needs, we can work together to develop and strengthen their knowledge. I strive for my lessons to be fun, engaging and appropriately challenging to help each student reach their full potential.
Please note: for lessons at a student's home address there is an additional travel fee of between £5-15 per session, calculated by distance.

How we verify these
Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:
- Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
- Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.
The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

My son has Lee for A-level Maths tuition. I am very pleased with the progress my son is making. According to my son; Lee explains things well and tries to make things easier to understand. He sets regular homework and feedback and is approachable. I would certainly recommend.

Lee is incredibly professional. He works hard to ensure that my daughter feels at ease (she has Autism, is dyslexic and suffers with anxiety) whilst pushing her to achieve more. She has made progress already, moving from a 3 to a 4 in her GCSEs in a matter of weeks. I just wish we’d have found Lee sooner!

Lee was welcoming and made my daughter feel very at ease. He presented GCSE Maths topics in a way that made it easy to understand. I would 100% recommend Lee as a tutor.

I would highly recommend Lee for tutoring in GCSE Maths. He was always on time for our sessions and is a really lovely and polite person. He went to great effort to go over and over topics I didn’t understand until I could grasp them and gave really good advice regarding exam technique. Lee would always take away past papers and mark them in his own time and help me understand where I went wrong and how I could pick up extra marks. He really gave me the confidence to go in to my exams feeling prepared and in a good frame of mind and I’m really grateful for that.

Hello Lee, The tutorials seem to be going well, which is why we keep coming back. Jack seems fairly comfortable with you and is cooperating with your requests. I like the fact that your style feels relaxed but that you also maintain clear focus on the topics being practised and assessed. I respect the emphasis you place on encouraging the student to take responsibility for their own learning. I do wonder whether a student like Jack who has fallen behind a bit already might need a bit more direction as to how to set about it. E.g. I think he could do with writing a list of homework you set - as I find myself uncertain about that. I expect your'e keeping an eye on this kind of thing anyway as I can see you're observant as to how he responds to things. Thanks Jo

Lee is an extremely conscientious tutor with the pupil's success at the heart of his tutoring. Very well organised, full documentation provided, always on time and flexible. He went the extra mile with my son, printing passed papers, marking them ready for next lesson and even picked up completed papers outside of tutor session. He also gave my son some tips and techniques which school didn't provide. Lee was always full of smiles and involved me in some sessions and weekly updates on my son's progression. I would highly recommend Lee not just for his excellent tutoring but for his personality, patience, kind nature and ability to adapt learning styles to suit the student. Lee tutored my son in maths and combined science at GCSE.

A good start to the tutoring sessions. George seems pleased so far with the level to which the sessions are set, the content and the approach. He already appears to be gaining confidence in Chemistry and this should be reflected in his marks for the January mock tests. So far, so good :)

Lee has only been coming a short while to tutor A Level Physics and my son is really impressed with his tutoring. Lee is always punctual and will happily re-arrange a lesson due to staying late at College etc. He always leaves the lesson on a humorous and positive way with good advice and encouragement. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lee.
