KS3 and GCSE Science and A-Level Biology Tutor
About
I am an accomplished scientist with a real passion for biology and science.
I have been tutoring for 2 years and prior to this I gained an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science and a masters degree in Human and Molecular Genetics, then worked in research laboratories for 6 years.
As well as tutoring privately I volunteer with action tutoring to teach year 7 maths.
What to expect from my tutoring:
For in person lessons as well as using the official textbooks I create personalised information sheets and worksheets to aid the students learning and reinforce that with past paper questions so that they learn the subject and are able to apply that knowledge in an exam setting.
For online lessons I create interactive presentations on each subject which includes information slides, exercise slides and use past paper questions. This is all made with the students own learning styles and preferences in mind.
Exam technique is a skill by itself so by using past paper questions strategically and regularly the students will learn the skills they need to get through their exams.

How we verify these
Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:
- Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
- Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.
The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Rebecca for the outstanding support she has given my son while tutoring him in GCSE Triple Science. Her dedication, clear explanations, and patient approach have made a remarkable difference to his confidence and understanding of the subjects. Since starting lessons with Rebecca, his expected grades have improved dramatically, rising from a grade 5 to a grade 9, which is an incredible achievement. This progress is a true reflection of her hard work, commitment, and ability to motivate and inspire. We are extremely grateful for her patience, encouragement, and consistent support, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an exceptional tutor.

Lessons are really fun, and are tailored exactly to how I work best, going through content and then trying to recall it. We look through exam questions which have boosted my confidence and I now feel much more confident walking into my exams!! :)

Rebecca is a kind individual, who never fails to make me feel comfortable in my lessons. She asked me during my first lesson what I wanted to work on and how I enjoyed learning to make sure that my lessons were personalised to help me. She also asked me what my aims were with tutoring and made me feel confident that during our time together we could achieve those goals. Rebecca is great in the fact that at the start of every lesson she will recap what we did the week prior to help me remember and reflect, which has helped me learn and take in things so much quicker. Rebecca never makes me feel silly if i get things wrong, she will just help me get them right and go over the correct things with me. I would 100% recommend Rebecca if you need some extra learning support.
