Who is Sandra B?

I am SANDRA B - with over three decades experience of tutoring Maths, I've prepared students for the various evolutions of the GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level and IB exams and their exam boards.

With one-to-one tutoring, the student is the focus so we go at the student's pace and interest in the moment (rather than the class' pace at school):

Why Sandra?

My particular skill is in helping develop confidence in Maths students who get stuck on 'Wordy Questions' so can't get 'beyond the staples' - meaning that they find the wordy questions in the second half of past papers unfathomable. I combine my years of Maths tutoring with Applied Linguistics to navigate the 'Wordy Questions' and unlock those all-important extra marks.

Qualifications and Work

If you've read this far, you're probably interested in my background - here goes.

I graduated from Christ Church College, Canterbury, in 1987, with a BA in Music and Maths. My other qualifications include: MA Ed (Applied Linguistics), DipABRSM (flute teaching), PTLLS, CELTA, and Level 2 Rowing Coach.

I have an eclectic background, initially working in IT management for Capita and the Civil Aviation Authority and later mainly as a tutor of woodwind (flute, sax and recorder), Maths, and English for Academic Purposes (Bristol and Southampton Universities). I also run choirs in the Cheltenham area.
