About

As a second year Trainee Clinical Psychologist studying a doctorate at the University of Oxford I have extensive experience of working with young people and adults, and I am passionate about helping others to reach their potential. I completed a non-psychology undergraduate degree and for the past decade I have worked across third and public organisations with vulnerable people, in roles including: Service Manager, Project Manager, Teaching Assistant and Specialist Support Worker. I completed a conversion Master's degree in Psychology and I am now currently undertaking a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. My academic skills have focused on critical analysis, essay writing and qualitative research. I bring a wealth of experience and perspectives from different disciplines to my teaching, which ties real-world practice with academic literature as a scientist practitioner.

Tutoring experience

I am able to support Psychology students from a wide range of abilities to understand clinical practice (including assessment, formulation, and intervention), critically analyse literature, plan essays, understand qualitative research methods, support understanding of lecture content, and improve writing style. I can also give feedback on essays, coursework and provide assistance with other Psychology-related skills. As someone who completed Psychology as a postgraduate conversion (achieving a Distinction in my master's), I have the skills to understand how to learn Psychology anew.

For English students, I achieved A*A*A at A-Level, AAAA at AS and 8A*'s and 3A's at GCSE (which includes English Language at A-Level, and both English Literature and Language at GCSE). I have supported English students in learning how to revise and study for exams in a way that suits their unique learning style. I have a proven record of helping tutees to improve their foundational English skills in an engaging manner, resulting in increased proficiency in both speaking and writing. Learners have also benefitted from collaboratively reviewing past papers, completing comprehension tasks, and discussing varying forms of literature within sessions. The homework I set is personalised to the learner's specific needs and goals.

I have been working with young people and adults in pastoral and support work settings for over a decade, including experience in a one-to-one teaching role with young people and children. I have extensive experience of delivering training and teaching to adults and young people in both online and face-to-face settings. My style is adaptable and accessible for all learners; as a tutor I have successfully supported undergraduate and post-graduate psychology students, as well as students studying English at GCSE and KS3 level, to pass exams and improve their grades.

Tutoring approach

Tutoring is personal and it's important that we work together to understand how you learn best. I hope to create an open, flexible and honest space where no question is silly. My aim is for tutees to feel confident in the material covered in our sessions so that they can take this forward independently.

I offer online sessions or in person sessions in Aylesbury at the client's home or in a community space.

Please feel free to message me if you have any questions.

How we verify these

Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:

  • Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
  • Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.

The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

Scarlett has been a breath of fresh air and professional throughout she’s been extremely helpful in pulling up my 13-year-old’s English grades in her secondary school over the last 6 to 8 months Scarlett’s interactions are professional. She provided regular feedback and achievable goals for my daughter to progress. I found it extremely reassuring to have such a professional individual working with my child to achieve her academic goals and meet her needs on the personal level. Scarlett has formed a great working relationship with my daughter. She’s very friendly approachable and the communication has been fantastic throughout. I could not recommend Scarlett high enough.
