About
have an excellent track record in terms of students pass rates. I adapt the content of my session to the learning style of the students and enjoy building their confidence, especially in preparing them for exams.
I see myself as a coach and I help students get motivated! I have substantial experience working with students with special learning needs esp. dyslexia, dyspraxia and autism.
I have more than 15 years experience working as an on-line tutor. I'm very patient and work at the student's pace. I give a lot of encouragement and I also make sure they have materials to work from between sessions. I use on-line resources to reinforce learning and this is proving to be popular with my students who think of it as a game rather then homework.
I work closely with the exam boards, using their materials and reading their feedback every year. This ensures that my students avoid common mistakes and get excellent results. I have also worked as an assessor and a marker and I am experienced in using marking schemes.
My first career in the UK was working in Finance with international Companies. I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the UK in 2003 (ACCA member). I have practical experience in both Financial and Management Accounting. I teach both for Bookkeeping and Accounting Professional qualifications (AAT level 2 to 4) . I'm a qualified teacher and assessor who used to work in Further and Higher Education where I taught.

Vanessa worked with our daughter in year 11 to help her prepare for her maths GCSE. Our daughter was struggling and received a grade 5 in her mocks even though in the past she had been receiving 8s and 9s. Somewhere along the line she had lost confidence and missed some key elements in her learning. We turned to FirstTutor and found Vanessa who worked at rebuilding our daughters confidence and filling in the gaps in her knowledge. Vanessa has a patient, kind and practical approach that worked brilliantly for our daughter. In her recent GCSEs she received a grade 8 which far exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend working with Vanessa, I am really happy to of discovered Vanessa through first tutors having online tuition which has really help me accelerate my learning and have just recently completed and passed my level 2 AAT bookkeeping I will be continuing my studies with Vanessa doing my Level 3 AAT bookkeeping, Working with Vanessa is a pleasure and makes the learning really enjoyable and is a lovely person, Vanessa helps with finding course work and study notes on areas to study to do in my spare time to get more ready for the next lesson and helped me so much getting me ready for my exam, Vanessa is full of knowledge and understands and makes an effort for yourself to figure it out as much as possible , I have progressed so much faster through Vanessa than trying to do it alone I would highly recommend working with Vanessa.

Our son has been studying Functional Level 2 Maths and Vanessa has been amazing, our son has dyslexia and Vanessa assisted him to break the questions down so that he could work on the question in parts and not be confused by the complicated wording of questions. Vanessa also built his confidence and belief, and ensured he had practise papers between lessons. We can’t recommend Vanessa enough for support with Functional Level 2 Maths, our son and we really feel her support have enable him to pass with such a high grade.

After only 2 sessions my daughter is already showing a bit more confidence in maths and the 121 support has reaffirmed to her that she does know a lot but just needs some extra support with how she gets to the final answer. Vanessa sends materials straight after the lesson with links for the following week and it all works seamlessly. I am really impressed with the quality and detail that she goes to. I am a first-year undergraduate student studying Industrial Economics which contained a financial and management accounting module. Vanessa has been able to provide great help in understanding the theory and calculations required in my examination. Vanessa is very understanding when I had issues understanding specific topics and focused on them and simplifying them to enable me to understand the methods to calculate values. Vanessa is very flexible in cases where times did not match in our calendars to ensure a maximum amount of lessons for my benefit.
