About
Salve! I am a native Italian tutor originally from Rome, with many years of experience teaching to students of all ages and levels. Throughout my career, I have taught both privately and in schools, helping learners develop confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Italian.
I've always loved my language and really enjoy passing this love onto someone else by teaching!
My teaching approach combines solid grammatical foundations with practical communication skills, allowing students to use Italian naturally in real-life situations.
Having lived and worked in Italy's capital, I also enjoy sharing insights into Italian culture, traditions, history, and everyday life, making lessons engaging and authentic.
I offer Italian lessons for all levels, from beginners to advanced, also GCSE, AS/A2 and Cils exams preparation. For students aiming to obtain the B1 Italian certification, I design focused lessons that develop the language skills and exam techniques needed to approach the test with confidence and maximise your chances of success.
My lessons last 2 hours (90 minutes for online lessons) normally starting with conversations (with absolute beginners this hour is spent in role playing, games and repetitions), followed by homework correction, grammar studies and listening to pre-recorded Italian conversations.
The lessons are very enjoyable and time goes quickly!

Francesca is organised, careful, insightful and adaptable in her approach to helping me with my Italian. Her preferred way of teaching (me) involves conversing and instructing all the time in Italan, with a focus on grammar as much as on conversation - Francesca really knows when to let small mistakes pass in the interests of encouraging fluency, and when to interject with grammatical rationale. I am enjoying the course very much, and at the same time I find myself quite tired after every session - the balance works very well, I think.

She is absolutely attuned to your particular needs as a student, picks up on them very fast and identifies what it is that you need to improve. Francesca is an amazing tutor. We do a combination of listening, writing, reading and checking homework after speaking for an hour or more. She has the ability to explain key grammar skills clearly and effectively. She’s tuned into and interested in my work life and interests. I feel she cares. This has made me feel comfortable and able to push myself to learn, grow and practice Italian with her. I feel respected, comfortable, safe and able to take the risks to venture out of my comfort zone, make mistakes and learn!
