About
Ciao! I'm Giancarlo, I'm 38 years old and I've been teaching Italian for more than 12 years so far at every level. Teaching is my passion and my job: so I consider myself a very lucky guy! I hold a Master's Degree in Italian Language and Literature (Sapienza Università di Roma, 2014) and writing is my second job. I published several books, mainly fantasy novels and I'm also a scriptwriter for Audible (I write audiobooks)!
I am willing to help any student who wishes to improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Italian.
I'm happy to tutor face to face when it's possible but nowadays most of my classes are on Microsoft Teams!

Giancarlo is an outstanding teacher. He is patient, enthusiastic and clear with his explanations. I am a casual learner who wants to improve my spoken language. From doing lessons with him, I have gone from a zero level in Italian to a high level of understanding and being able to articulate sentences in Italian. I really enjoy the lessons because he is great to have chats with me in Italian which improves my communication skills. I highly recommend Giancarlo as a teacher. He understands what your goal is. Gian is a great teacher, I would highly recommend. He is very patient, understanding and super encouraging. Gian is very friendly so I feel relaxed and not afraid to make mistakes, the class flies by. I had done other group classes before so I wasn't a complete beginner but lacked confidence in putting sentences together. Unlike some other teachers, I like that Gian will explain something in English so I can understand it better and more quickly. The one-to-one works really well as Gian adapts to suit my level and needs. My confidence in speaking Italian has definitely grown, even in the space of six classes. I'm looking forward to continuing to learn with Gian.

Gian is an excellent tutor. He is enthusiastic and provides a great range of ways to learn Italian. Myself and my husband are both beginners and are thoroughly enjoying the classes so far (have done approx 3 months). Gian is also very accommodating regarding having a different day/time each week (important as we work rotating shift patterns). 100% would recommend to anyone wanting to learn/improve their Italian :)

Needing to revise my Italian within a relatively short span of time, Giancarlo proved to be very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and, most importantly, dedicated. He came to each session with lots of material prepared and tailored to my interests and grammatical needs. His English is also excellent and so if the learner's Italian is not so good communication will not be an issue. I wholeheartedly recommend him to any learner of Italian, be they beginner or more advanced!

Gian is a fantastic tutor, with great patience and a relaxed manner which immediately put me at ease. His classes always start promptly and are very well structured to my needs. In a short time, I have a greater understanding of conjugations and understanding masculine and feminine nouns, something I struggled with while learning other languages. Gian is an energetic, enthusiastic and competent tutor. All his lessons are well prepared, accompanied by useful and diverse teaching materials. With Gian’s energy, we always use the 60 minute lesson to the maximum, doing and learning as much as we possibly could. Additionally , Gian always makes the greatest effort to make him self available and adjust to my time table. He is very reliable. Starting with relatively basic Italian, I feel much more confident with my tenses and grammar after only 3 weeks of lessons- he always makes sure to correct if needed :)

Excellent tutor! I chose Giancarlo to help me improve my italian after university, and I must say it was the a great choice. He is a great teacher, patient and able to adapt the lessons to my level and speed of learning. The lessons are fun and we focus on whatever I'm currently interested in - that gives me even more motivation to continue studying on my own after each lesson :) Highly recommend!

He is outstanding!!! I am an early intermediate student. His approach is to send me texts in English and I translate them to Italian. He then thoroughly corrects my translation. As a bonus, the texts are great short stories. Highly recommend.

This is my first experience of trying to learn a language since secondary school and I can’t believe how much I have learnt in only a few sessions. Giancarlo is a really great teacher. He is challenging but also facilitates me frequently going ‘off topic’ to figure out how to say something that comes into my mind. 100% positive learning experience!
