About
I am an experienced teacher and tutor with over 32 years in the profession.
I began my career as a Primary teacher and worked successfully in the sector for 6 years. I took several classes through successful SATS results, as well as inspections with very good results. I am particularly interested and very experienced in tutoring Science and Maths at KS3 and GCSE.
My experience in the secondary sector has mainly been as an English Teacher initially, and then I moved into the area of specialist teaching and Behavioural Management. I ran the Maths and Science department in a PRU. We delivered Maths and Science through KS3 and KS4 and all tiers of GCSE.I worked in the ALN sector and in PRU's for 17 years.
I specialise in helping students with ALN/SEN in particular, having received much training and years of practice in dealing with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, ASD and specific learning difficulties.
I have many years experience of teaching and tutoring Maths, English and Science, at KS3 and KS4 (GCSE).I successfully ran a Maths and Science department 6 years.
I currently teach Science at KS3 and KS4 in a high school in Wales.
I tailor each lesson according to each student- I believe that no two students are the same, and so I always use the individual approach. Over the years, I have had the privilege to teach countless children, teenagers, and even a few adults!
I always endeavour to make my lessons engaging, challenging and progressive. I am a very enthusiastic and passionate teacher in all the topics I teach and try hard to pass this on to each student so they too can fall in love with learning!
I believe in first building confidence and being relaxed as an educator and that approaching a problem from different perspectives, is a successful approach as a tutor and as a student. It is also very important to take into consideration the learning styles of individual students.
I always aim on building the students confidence and belief in themselves to enable them to achieve. It is instilling the `I can do` and self belief that works for me, in a gentle and kind way. Then showing them what they have achieved and praising their results. I am very experience in teaching at different ability levels and I believe that learning should always be fun, engaging and at a pace and level that suits the learner. I absolutely love to teach and inspire each and every student to reach their potential!

Andrew is very understanding of my son’s specific needs and very quickly and accurately identified his lack of confidence in English. He reassured me that he would do everything he could to build his confidence in learning the exam structure, with the aim of helping him get through. More importantly, my son really likes Andrew and doesnt moan that he has tutoring - which is a first!

First session has been very successful. Andrew arrived early and well prepared with past papers and plenty of knowledge and experiences to impart. He was friendly and approachable and put myself and my son at ease very quickly. At the end of the session Andrew described an action plan for the next few sessions and suggested a number of things to try. Really happy with this start.
