T-level English Literature tutors
10 UK tutors who teach English Literature at T-level. £40–£70/hr · median £57
English Literature at GCSE and A-level is taught around set texts: a Shakespeare, a 19th-century novel, a modern play or novel, and an anthology of poetry at GCSE; longer set texts and a coursework component at A-level. Tutoring helps most where students can discuss a text fluently but struggle to write to the assessment objectives: context, language analysis, structural analysis, comparison. Boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Eduqas, WJEC) prescribe different texts; tutor familiarity with the specific texts matters more here than in most subjects. For A-level, look for tutors comfortable with critical theory and unseen analysis under timed conditions.
T-levels are the technical/vocational alternative to A-levels, launched from 2020 and now spanning routes including digital, construction, education and childcare, health, science, engineering, finance, legal and others. They take two years and combine classroom learning with a substantial industry placement (45 days minimum). Each T-level is equivalent to three A-levels for UCAS points and progression. Provision is concentrated in specific FE colleges and selected schools. Tutoring helps most with the externally assessed core component and with employer-set project preparation. Look for tutors with explicit T-level experience or industry-aligned teaching credentials. This is a new qualification and spec familiarity matters.
