A-level Romanian tutors

1 UK tutor who teach Romanian at A-level.

Romanian has no GCSE, iGCSE or A-level. No English exam board offers it, so unlike Polish or Urdu there is no exam route to prepare for, and tutoring here is heritage-literacy work instead. The cohort is overwhelmingly children of post-2014 Romanian and Moldovan migrants, where oral fluency is rarely the issue and written Romanian is: spelling and diacritics, formal register, and grammar precision (cases, verb conjugation, the enclitic article). Families come for writing that holds up with relatives back home, for schooling if the family returns, or to keep the language from thinning out across a generation. Look for tutors with native Romanian and experience teaching heritage speakers rather than ab initio learners.

A-levels are sat at the end of Year 13 (age 17-18) and are the standard UK university-entrance qualification, with most students taking 3 subjects (sometimes 4 plus an EPQ). Grades A*-E feed UCAS, and competitive university courses set offers at AAA or higher. Tutoring helps most with the step up from GCSE: A-levels demand independent learning, denser content, and exam technique that rewards structured argument or method-mark-aware working. Boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Eduqas, CIE) diverge meaningfully, so match the tutor to the spec, especially in maths, sciences and modern languages where assessment differences are sharp.
