Romanian tutoring in the UK is mostly heritage-literacy work. The cohort is overwhelmingly children of post-2014 Romanian and Moldovan migrants, where oral fluency is rarely the issue and written Romanian is: spelling and diacritics, formal register, and grammar precision (cases, verb conjugation, the enclitic article). Families come for writing that holds up with relatives back home, for schooling if the family returns, or to keep the language from thinning out across a generation. Look for tutors with native Romanian and experience teaching heritage speakers rather than ab initio learners.
Advanced Higher is the Scottish qualification taken in S6 (age 17-18), administered by the SQA (now Qualifications Scotland), broadly comparable to A-level in difficulty and used by Scottish students for entry to top UK universities (including English Russell Group institutions where an Advanced Higher pass is required for some courses). Most students take 1-3 Advanced Highers alongside extra Highers or other study. Coursework (particularly the extended project/dissertation in many subjects) carries substantial weight. Tutoring helps most with the project component and with the step up from Higher to Advanced Higher in mathematical and analytical subjects. Look for tutors with explicit SQA Advanced Higher experience.
