A longer gap than usual since the last update, and most of what's in it is about refining the way parents are finding tutors, and lots more coming soon!
Search for up to three subjects at once
You can now pick up to three subjects when you're looking for a tutor. The wizard only took one before, for example a parent wanting one tutor for maths and physics previously had no way to ask for both.
Pick more than one and you'll get tutors who teach all of them. Each subject shows how many tutors are available as you go, and combinations nobody teaches are greyed out, so you won't land on an empty page. The wizard now finishes on the browse page, where you've got the full set of filters to hand.
More ways to narrow things down
The subject filter on the browse page takes up to three subjects too. The search won't find zero results for a combination - if there are tutors teach all selected subjects it will show tutors who teach any of them.
There's also a new filter for the languages a tutor speaks, which helps if you want someone who can communicate with the family and the student in different or multiple languages.
Set a location and you'll see how far away each tutor is on their card, and you can sort by distance too.
On the subject and city pages there's now a Refine search button that carries everything you've already set over to the full sidebar.
Read reviews without leaving the list
The review count on a tutor's card is a link now for a pop up. Tap it and you get the full text of their reviews there and then. Comparing four tutors used to mean opening four profiles to read one review on each.
New subjects and levels
Admissions tests are now a level of their own. STEP, TMUA, ESAT, LNAT, UCAT, GAMSAT and Oxbridge admissions used to sit under A-level, which never matched how anyone talks about them. If you offer any of these, we've moved your listings across and your rates have come with them. The old addresses redirect.
7+, 8+ and 16+ are levels now as well, the way 11+ and 13+ already were. Chess has its own Beginner to Advanced ladder, since school levels don't mean much for it. Adult English gets the CEFR bands from A1 to C2, so you can say whether you take absolute beginners or teach C1 exam prep. Tutors who cover Primary as a whole can list Primary (general) rather than picking subjects off one by one. We've added Romanian, along with the DELF, DALF, TEF and TCF French certificates. BMAT is retired, following MAT.
Reminders when a message goes unanswered
If a parent is waiting on you, we'll send you a reminder. If you're waiting on a parent, we'll remind them. Both stop as soon as the pair unlocks. A parent who writes to three tutors and hears nothing back tends to give up on the site altogether, which helps nobody.
Where messages sit unanswered for a good while, we'll switch holiday mode on for you, so parents aren't writing to someone who isn't taking students at the moment. Turn it off again from your dashboard whenever you're back.
Safety warnings when contact details are exchanged
The unlock emails and the message thread now carry a short warning, and it's different on each side. Parents are told to watch for anyone pushing for a large payment before a lesson has happened. Tutors get the overpayment scam, where someone pays too much and asks for the difference back.
Both sides get the same line about what we'll never do. We only email from tutorperch.com addresses, and we'll never ask you for card details. There are two new guides behind it, Spotting scams and Staying safe with payments.

Subject and city pages with a location set were sorting by distance and ignoring rating. That's fixed. The ranking inputs are all listed at /how-we-rank.
Fixed a sign-in loop that caught people using some in-app browsers.
Your imported First Tutors reviews now show on your own reviews page.
