About
I am a professional English Language & Literature subject specialist, with over two decades experience of working in a variety of educational settings: as a classroom teacher, learning mentor, learning support practitioner - and ten years as a private tutor.
Added to this, I have an extensive and varied background in teaching English as a Foreign Language, both in the UK and Overseas, which enables me to teach a wide spectrum of learners of all ages, cultural backgrounds and abilities.
I have a passion for discussing and deconstructing literary texts, but most all feel it is my empathy and unconditional positive regard, which helps me to forge positive and successful connections with my students.

Caroline is an amazing tutor.She has very natural way of connecting with her pupils and encouraging them.I could see a lot difference in my daughter's approach after Caroline started tutoring and mentoring her. My daughter always look forward to her English Lessons and is a lot more interested and confident in the subject . Jan 2021 - just to let you know my son got a grade 7 (only 2 marks off a grade 8 !) after Caroline’s input. Best tutor we have ever had, proper impressive. 5* I initially read Caroline’s feedback and had doubts a tutor could be so amazing but I am happy to admit I was completely wrong. She is a phenomenal educator with a gift for her subject and has helped my son with his GCSE retake prep with such understanding and empathy that my son equated these lessons to his favourite subject (maths). She is always punctual and well prepared and it has been a pleasure to have her help.

Caroline is an amazing tutor. DD has got her GCSE results today and we are so happy that she has got 9 in both language and literature. Caroline has played a major role in guiding and encouraging my DD all through the year. She is always on time and has a very personal and friendly approach. My DD always looks forward to her seasons. Caroline made sure to appreciate DD’s point of view by encouraging discussions. This improved DD’s confidence much more in English. It was more like 2 friends happily discussing the subject and coming up with a whole lot of ideas rather than a tutor teaching her student and just focussing on getting the higher grades. Caroline provided english tutoring for my 12 year old daughter as preparation for her GCSE'S. However, i found Caroline to be unreliable, as we were unable to have more then two lessons as she was unable to re-arrange and cancelled at very late notice

I understand your frustration Paula. I am sorry that i had to cancel at short notice. I was very ill in hospital with flu and suspected sepsis and, unfortunately, it took me some time to recover from this serious ailment. On top of this, family illness and bad weather conditions (snow), also disrupted my schedule. Sadly, these things were outside my control.

Caroline is an excellent English tutor. My son said she's really enthusiastic and the best English teacher he has had. Caroline is friendly, polite and punctual. It's really hard to find good tutors that will bond with and encourage your children, so I was very pleased with Caroline. She taught my son for 6 months, leading up to his GCSEs. In his results he got a 7 in English language and a 6 in English Literature, which we are delighted with.

There are no quick fixes when it comes to tutoring. Learners have to be taught a solid foundation and then build up from there. I found that Caroline is laying that solid foundation where the love for English can be cultivated. Caroline is reliable and courteous.
