About
I began my career as a psychologist before moving into teaching as part of my training to become an Educational Psychologist. However, I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed teaching and decided to continue in education full-time. I have now been a teacher for over 25 years. During my career, I have worked across primary, secondary, further education and university settings with both mainstream and SEN students. For the past three years, I have worked successfully as a private tutor, preparing students for SATs, GCSEs and entrance examinations for independent and grammar schools.
Alongside my professional experience, I am also a parent to three grown-up children and one teenager who still lives at home, as well as a proud grandparent to two young grandchildren. Family life has given me a strong understanding of the different challenges children and parents can face throughout their educational journey.
Outside teaching, I enjoy travelling, exploring different parts of Britain and researching subjects connected to both education and my own interests. I was also a Scout parent helper for over ten years, supporting activities, camps and international trips to Austria and Canada, alongside many camping adventures across the UK. These experiences helped develop my patience, organisation and ability to build positive relationships with young people of all ages.
I aim to create a calm, supportive and encouraging learning environment where children can build confidence, develop skills and achieve their full potential.

Excellent tutoring. Both children have enjoyed their inital sessions with Daphne, they are engaged and have already shown an improvement in grasping the foundations of learning . Daphne has provided me with hints and tips to engage the children further with their homework too. Daphne has shown a real interest in the childrens school and what level of learning is expected for their individual ages. We are now focusing on these criteria so that both children an meet, if not exceed, the standards set. Highly recommended.

We were disappointed we never got going with tuitions for our son as Daphne withdrew from tutoring following our confirmation and payment. Daphne was though quick to contact us and explain the situation and explore options to compensate for the loss.

I was also disappointed that we didn't start but please do remember with your next Tutor that outside your tutoring slot there can't be excessive contact; I was more than happy to respond to a few dozen emails/messages but in regards to phone calls it is very hard as many of us also teach in schools and have families. So do wait until you meet your Tutor and then I am certain they will be happy to talk to you once you meet. As you said I did try to offer you other options for compensation and I hope you find someone suitable.

Daphne is a lovely and very professional tutor, My son at first was unsure about having a tutor but after a few sessions with Daphne he seems much more happier about continuing to have Daphne. I had a wonderful session with Daphne. She is extremely good at understanding of my need to improve my English. We had a great conversation lesson and she suggested ways to improve my English. She gave me some tips to improve my skills which I have never thought of before. She gave me some books to reference. As homework I have worked on assessments and I must read. I am suprised at how much I now love to reading English Classics. It's a big jump achieving and enjoying reading English books. I would love to recommend Daphne to everyone who wants to learn English from scratch or to be more confident.
