About
Started teaching as a trainee in 2016 after a career in journalism, public affairs, and campaigning. Gained PGCE and QTS, have pursued a career as an English teacher in secondary schools in Barnet, tutoring throughout.
From marking the GCSEs I have honed the exam technique preparation in which I specialise. In October 2024 I left classroom teaching to research and write a book.
I have a clear DBS on the update service, and am a full member of our professional body, TTA.
My watchwords are fun and conscientiousness. Combining that seemingly paradoxical pairing works for me, for my pupils, and for life in general. We learn best when we are enjoying ourselves.

How we verify these
Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:
- Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
- Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.
The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

In my opinion, Audrey is an exceptional and outstanding tutor. With my son’s English Language and Literature GCSEs fast approaching, I only wish we had found her sooner. Her teaching style is positive, motivating, and highly engaging. Her verbal feedback is clear, thorough, and delivered with genuine kindness and encouragement. The high standards she sets, alongside her perceptive feedback, ensure that the targets she shares with my son are both concise and achievable. As a result of Audrey ’s support, my son’s confidence in his written abilities is growing rapidly. The fact that he has requested additional lessons is a real testament to her skill and professionalism. Audrey ’s expertise in text analysis, evaluation, and vocabulary has been especially invaluable for my son’s exam preparation. He benefits from the practical strategies, advice, and techniques drawn from her extensive experience teaching and assessing GCSE English. I also appreciate her follow-up emails with lesson materials and her flexibility in offering both in-person and online sessions. As a retired primary school teacher with nearly 30 years of experience, I wholeheartedly recommend Audrey as a private tutor.

We couldn’t be happier with Ms ! She is an incredibly experienced, inspiring, and motivating teacher who builds such a fantastic connection with her students. Our daughter, Yağmur, used to feel quite anxious about her GCSE English, but thanks to Ms ’s structured, organised, and supportive approach, she now feels so much more confident and positive. Ms truly goes above and beyond—not only does she support Yağmur brilliantly, but she also gives us, as parents, very helpful advice and guidance. This has made a huge difference to us as a family throughout this journey. We are so grateful for all her support during this important GCSE period. She is an outstanding teacher, and we wholeheartedly recommend her!

Fantastic tutor, who understood what my son needed to do from an examiner and a GCSE teacher’s point of view. Her flexibility was great when we needed to cancel at short notice. Would recommend to any GCSE students!

Thank you to Audrey and especially to her for the excellent support and service. My son will be entering Year 11 this September and has been struggling with English Literature for quite some time. Although he had worked with another tutor previously, we didn’t see much improvement in his school exam results. In April, we reached out to Audrey for help, and from the very first trial lesson with , my son responded positively — his exact words were, “Wow.” What impressed us right away was ’s clear, focused, and structured approach. She is straight to the point and highly organised, which has helped my son understand what to focus on. This clarity has made a real difference in his learning. He finds her teaching insightful and appreciates the practical tips she provides. is also very supportive — even offering help outside of scheduled lessons when needed. As a parent, I naturally worry about my son's education. has also given me some kind, friendly advice which I truly appreciate. One of my priorities when choosing tuition is to have in-person sessions rather than online, as I believe this is more effective for my son. Initially, I was slightly concerned because the platform did not allow me to confirm or clarify ’s location beforehand, which made me hesitant. However, I’m very glad I went ahead — having as his tutor has been a great decision, and I’m confident she will continue to guide my son well in his English Literature journey.

I’ve had an exceptional experience with Audrey who tutored my son for his GCSE. Her teaching style was clear, engaging, and was tailored to my son’s needs. She broke down complex literature analysis, essay structure and exam technique. Audrey provided additional reference notes and a very stimulated learning experience. She went beyond her teaching hours and was generous with her time even after his exam to clear a few queries he had and was very supportive and encouraging. I highly recommend Audrey.
Audrey P. replied

I wasn’t happy the way address was explain to me it was far from my location and the tutor mentioned it’s near my location ,so we couldn’t join the lesson.
Audrey P. replied
I regret that you misunderstood my comment that I "live near the Green Walk" (that also runs past where you live, and I frequently cycle up your way and back on it) which I do. I regret that you stood me up for our first meeting. I regret that although we rescheduled, you did not stop your car so that we never met. I regret that you felt it necessary to leave this feedback despite my clear goodwill.
