Ms Julia M.

An experienced and committed English teacher, I currently work as Lead Practitioner of English at a secondary school in Watford, bringing over 10 years of classroom and leadership experience. I am passionate about helping students develop a genuine love of literature and language, and I specialise in raising attainment through high-quality teaching, thoughtful curriculum design, and targeted support.

In my role, I lead on teaching and learning across the English department, working closely with colleagues through coaching, modelling effective practice, and delivering professional development. I have a strong track record of improving student outcomes at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, with a particular focus on closing attainment gaps and supporting disadvantaged learners to achieve their full potential.

My teaching is grounded in high expectations, inclusive practice, and a strong understanding of how students learn best. I aim to create engaging, knowledge-rich lessons that build confidence in reading, writing and critical thinking. Alongside this, I collaborate with senior leadership to lead coaching initiatives and promote consistency in teaching standards across the school. In 2025, I was proud to achieve the NPQLT (National Professional Qualification for Leading Teaching).

I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly engage with the latest educational research to ensure my teaching and leadership remain reflective, informed and impactful.

From June, I will have availability for two new students on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as I say farewell to my current Year 11 cohort. Sessions can take place online via Microsoft Teams or in the student’s home, with a parent or carer present.
