TUTORING EXPERIENCE:

✸ I am a fully qualified MFL teacher with over 20 years of experience teaching German and French, currently in post at Royal Russell School in London where I teach KS3 through to KS5 (A-level). My classroom experience spans both state and independent schools across London, including Unicorn primary school, Kingsdale Foundation School and Hayes Secondary School.

✸ I hold a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (German/French) from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a degree-equivalent in English and German Language & Literature from the University of Prešov, including a placement year at the University of Regensburg, Germany — so my German is not just textbook fluency, it is lived experience.

✸ I am a qualified ESOL Tutor with teaching experience of both groups and one-to one

✸ In addition to school teaching, I have provided private tutoring in German at GCSE level and above on a one-to-one basis, and have tutored translation studies at Middlesex University. I know how to adapt my teaching to the individual — whether a student needs to build foundations or push for top grades.

TUTORING APPROACH:

✸ Languages are best learned through genuine engagement with culture and context, not just grammar drills. I bring a multicultural perspective to every lesson — I have lived and worked across Slovakia, Germany, Switzerland and the UK, and I weave that real-world knowledge into my teaching.

✸ I have worked with learners across a broad range of ages and abilities — from young children to adults, from complete beginners to near-fluent speakers. I know what progression looks like at every stage, and I know how to move students forward.

✸ My approach is warm, encouraging and structured. I set clear goals for each session and ensure students leave with something concrete to practise. Parental communication and progress updates are always available on request.

FIRST LESSON:

At first I would assess the level of the language and based on the interaction decide on the appropriate approach and learning style for the student. The first lesson serves us to get to know each other and understand the gaps in the learning that need to be addressed and to set the strategy and targets.

LOCATION:

I tutor online and face to face.

✸ Any travel from my side would incur additional cost, i.e. a supplement of £10 to travel up to 3 miles and a residents parking ticket if necessary or reimbursement for parking costs;

✸ For distances beyond 3 miles up to 5 miles radius of my home, the minimum session is an hour and a half plus a travel supplement of £20. This can be shared between siblings or subjects.

✸ For distances beyond 5 miles radius of my home, I charge for one hour of my time. These sessions are a minimum of two hours, which can be shared between siblings or subjects.
