Amba

I’m Amba, a lawyer, law tutor and mum to a 12-year-old. I have 18 years’ experience in legal practice, currently working in civil litigation, alongside 7 years’ experience tutoring law students online. I have supported over 1,500 students across A-Level Law, CILEX, LLB, LLM, LPC, GDL, SQE and other legal courses, with many returning for support at different stages of their legal journey.

My teaching style is practical, supportive and assessment-focused. I do not believe in simply throwing information at students and expecting them to memorise it. Instead, I teach students how to understand the law, apply it to realistic scenarios, structure essays and problem questions, and develop confident legal reasoning. I use real case studies, course materials, seminar preparation, past papers and assessment criteria to make lessons relevant to each student’s actual course and goals.

I am patient, nurturing but firm, honest and down to earth. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, but I also push them to think independently and improve their written work. I am SEN-friendly and adult learner-friendly, with experience supporting students with dyslexia, ADHD, ASD, anxiety, low confidence and those returning to education after time away.

I also offer marking, proofreading, structure planning and grade-analysis support. I have developed my own AI-assisted marking report system, which analyses legal writing, structure, application, clarity and likely grade boundaries. Over the last year, students using this feedback have developed their writing significantly, with many consistently achieving 2:1s and Firsts.
