About
I am an experienced tutor with over 14 years of practice, and I also work as an examiner for Edexcel GCSE English Literature and A Level History (Edexcel and AQA). This gives me precise insight into how marks are awarded and what examiners are looking for at every level.
During my career, I have taught in selective schools including Torquay Boys’ Grammar, The King’s School Chester, and Exeter School, alongside extensive private tutoring. A a tutor I have worked with a wide range of students, including homeschooled learners and students of all ability levels.
I specialise in helping students make rapid, confident progress by strengthening both subject knowledge and exam technique. My lessons are highly personalised and focused on turning understanding into clear, structured answers that meet exam criteria.
I particularly support students who are capable but underperforming, helping them break through mark plateaus and gain consistency and confidence under exam conditions.

I couldn't be more pleased with Samantha as a tutor for my 16yr old daughter, who is taking her GCSE English exam next year. Samantha is extremely organised, plans lessons appropriate to my daughters needs, stays aware of what is happening with my daughters school work and adjusts lessons accordingly, is flexible with timings of sessions should the need arise and has such an encouraging, positive and supportive manner.
