I am an experienced and highly effective primary school teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience in mainstream education. Although I am currently teaching in Lower Key Stage 2, I also have extensive experience teaching in Upper Key Stage 2 and a strong track record of securing excellent attainment and progress in English, Mathematics, and Reading.

My current placement in Year 3 reflects the confidence my school has in my ability to raise standards and accelerate progress at a key transition point. Following a recognised national dip in attainment as pupils enter Key Stage 2, my employer specifically placed me in Lower Key Stage 2 to support pupils in building strong foundations and achieving higher outcomes.

My teaching approach is carefully tailored to meet the individual needs of each pupil, ensuring that every child feels supported, challenged, and confident in their learning. Lessons begin with a short review of previous learning to strengthen retention and support long-term memory. New concepts are then introduced in small, manageable steps using clear worked examples and guided practice before pupils move on to independent tasks.

To consolidate understanding, each lesson concludes with a short low-stakes quiz alongside follow-up activities to reinforce learning ahead of the next session. I use high-quality, up-to-date resources that are fully aligned with the National Curriculum, and I am also happy to support pupils with homework set by their school.

Communication with parents is very important to me, and I provide regular feedback on lesson successes, progress made, and next steps for further development or challenge. Above all, I place the needs and wellbeing of the child at the centre of everything I do. I am consistently described by colleagues, parents, and pupils as patient, knowledgeable, supportive, and dedicated.

I am currently offering tuition in phonics, reading, maths and writing which includes grammar, punctuation and spellings. I teach on a 1-1 basis as well as small groups with a maximum of 4 students.
