IB Theatre Studies tutors
4 UK tutors who teach Theatre Studies at IB.
Theatre Studies overlaps heavily with Drama. At A-level several boards label the qualification 'Drama and Theatre' or 'Drama and Theatre Studies'. Where it's offered as a distinct title, the emphasis tilts further toward analytical and contextual work: practitioner study (Brecht, Artaud, Berkoff, Boal, Frantic Assembly and others), live theatre evaluation, and written set-text response. Tutoring helps most with the practitioner-application essays and with the live-theatre review, where examiners reward specific, evidenced description over impressionistic praise. Look for tutors with theatre training and explicit familiarity with the practitioners and texts the relevant board prescribes.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a two-year sixth-form qualification taken in place of A-levels, offered by some independent and a small number of state schools. Students take six subjects (three Higher Level, three Standard Level) plus the Theory of Knowledge course, the Extended Essay, and CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service). UK universities accept the IB on equivalent UCAS-points terms, often with course-specific subject requirements. Tutoring helps most with HL subject content (which goes beyond A-level in some cases), with the Extended Essay, and with the Theory of Knowledge essay and presentation. Look for tutors with explicit IB teaching or examining experience.
