Charlotte
Specialist Tutor in Geology, Geography & SEN Support (Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism etc..)
About
Welcome and thank you for checking out my profile!
I am a QTS specialist tutor in Geography, Geology and SEND. I have over 10 years’ experience in Education and am currently studying for my PhD in Education.
I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to match individual learning styles and academic goals. Whether a student needs support with essay writing, exam preparation, reading comprehension, or study organization, I create structured lessons that help them progress steadily and feel more confident in their abilities.
I believe in sparking fascination in learning and that everyone can excel with guidance and encouragement. My goal is helping tutees improve grades while building confidence and belief in their abilities.
Dyslexia and SEND
Being neurodivergent (ND) myself, I’ve harnessed this difference in thinking and developed a flair for working with neurodivergent students. I was awarded the Cadogan Award for Resilience from the British Dyslexia Association (2022) and named as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Neurodiverse Women by Women Beyond the Box (2022). Many of my tutoring techniques are not necessarily found in a textbook but learnt through life and personal struggles.
I am also a school-based trauma-aware practitioner, with a sensitive understanding of how past experiences can impact a student’s confidence, motivation, and ability to engage with learning. I create a calm, supportive, and non-judgemental learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and progress at their own pace. My approach prioritises emotional safety alongside academic development, helping learners rebuild confidence, reduce anxiety around schoolwork, and develop positive learning habits that support long-term success.
My work with ND students is varied. I have worked with students with diverse differences including Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, Autism, RSD and others. My ND have also included teaching a variety of subjects, including English, Maths, Humanities and Drama.
Geography
I aim to invoke fascination in Geography and Geology far beyond a textbook, sharing real life experiences and identifying relevant and interesting case studies. I support students in developing essential exam techniques, including data interpretation, map skills, case study analysis, and structured essay writing. My aim is to make Geography engaging and accessible, helping learners see how the subject connects to current global issues and everyday life while improving their confidence and academic performance.
Geology
I love rocks, and after completing my PGCE in Geography, undertook a specialist course in teaching Geosciences.
I aim to help students develop a strong understanding of the Earth’s structure, materials, and the processes that have shaped it over time, following the WJEC/Eduqas syllabus. My aim is to build both confidence and curiosity, helping learners see how Geology explains the dynamic planet we live on.
