I have been teaching maths for over 12 years, from KS3 through to A Level and Further Maths. I enjoy one-to-one tutoring because it gives me the time to stop when something is not making sense and work out where the difficulty starts.

I completed my degree through the Open University while working, so I know what it is like to study difficult material independently and get stuck on something that does not click straight away. That experience has made me very aware that a different explanation can sometimes make all the difference.

My lessons are online using Zoom and Bitpaper, a shared whiteboard where I can work through examples while seeing the student’s working at the same time. If a student does not already have a suitable graphics tablet, I can provide a Wacom tablet when booking a block of lessons. The same setup can then be used for lessons and homework.

As exams get closer, I use more past-paper questions and spend more time on exam technique. I also set and mark homework each week so I can see what has been understood between lessons and what still needs more work.

Each student has their own Google Classroom with revision materials, lesson links, previous work, a calendar and tracked homework scores.

I have taught GCSE Foundation and Higher extensively, and I have considerable experience teaching the full A Level Maths course and Further Maths. I have also taught AQA Level 3 Mathematics and currently provide one-to-one GCSE Maths tuition in school for looked-after children.

I work with students at very different levels and have seen strong progress at both GCSE and A Level. One parent described how her son moved from a Grade 3 Foundation mock in Year 10 to a Grade 5 after a year of tuition. An A Level student moved from a C to an A and wrote that they had not thought that kind of improvement was possible.

I am a qualified maths teacher with a PGCE from the University of Sussex. I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and have particular experience with Pearson Edexcel.
