My educational background is mixed between artistic and academic qualifications. I graduated from Exeter University with a BA (Hons) in Theatre Arts & History, with Film studies & singing (to Diploma level) as subsidiary subjects, over 35 years ago. In addition, I have a variety of musical qualifications and experience. Two years after leaving Exeter University, I returned to Higher Education and gained a PGCE from Birmingham University. I have worked for both Warwickshire and Worcestershire Education Authorities with responsibilities for music, English, key Stage 2, as well as mentoring and coaching newly qualified teachers. In addition, I extended my training and knowledge by completing three leadership courses with the HTI: Leadership Pathways, Empowered Leaders and Coaching & Mentoring for Educational Leaders.

As well as a breadth of knowledge and experience working in schools, I have been extensively involved in Amateur Dramatics since the age of 15 years old, performing in both Warwickshire and Solihull, as well as singing professionally for smaller venues.

I have been running my own small Tuition business since 2014. I am driven by a strong belief that music is joyous and uplifting, music is healing and on occasions can even be therapeutic. My music students range from age seven to eighty years old. I teach all genres of music.

On the academic side, I am convinced that each and every one of us has an individual talent of some kind that should be nurtured and celebrated. Our Nat. Curr. currently states that children are targeted to achieve as a bare minimum a pass in GCSE English and maths. This is where I can assist with achieving this for those who find a challenge with either of these subjects at a younger age. I also offer tuition for children who may be described as gifted and talented who need support and guidance with preparing for the 11 Plus exam or Entrance exams. By providing personalised one-to-one support for children requiring maths/English support or for children wishing to gain entrance to Grammar schools, I hope to enable and encourage children to achieve their long term dreams and aspirations - my mantra for learning is “No-one should get left behind”.
