About
I have twelve years of experience teaching French and Spanish at secondary school level, from KS3 through to A Level. During this time, I have worked in both state and independent schools, including mixed and single-sex environments. I have extensive experience tutoring both in person and online, and I currently also work for an online school providing a British-system education to students around the world.
I offer tailored tuition in the following areas:
KS3 French and Spanish – building strong foundations in grammar, vocabulary, and exam skills in preparation for GCSE study.
GCSE French and Spanish – extensive knowledge of AQA, Edexcel, Edexcel IGCSE, and Cambridge IGCSE specifications, with focused support in all key skills, including speaking, writing, reading, and listening.
A Level French and Spanish – experience teaching AQA, Edexcel, Edexcel International, Eduqas, and WJEC specifications. I can also provide specialist support for the film and literature components of the courses, including:
French films: La Haine, Intouchables, Les 400 Coups
Spanish films: Volver, El Laberinto del Fauno
French literature: Un sac de billes, Bonjour Tristesse, No et moi, L'Étranger
Spanish literature: Como agua para chocolate, Crónica de una Muerte Anunciada, La Casa de Bernarda Alba
Functional French and Spanish – practical language lessons for adult or casual learners who wish to communicate confidently and effectively in real-life situations.

Reviews from First Tutors

How we verify these
Each imported review went through admin review. The tutor proved ownership of the First Tutors profile via one of two paths:
- Photo match. The First Tutors avatar matched the tutor's identity-verified Tutorperch photo, confirmed by admin.
- Cryptographic email check. The tutor uploaded an original First Tutors email (.eml). We verified the DKIM signature against First Tutors' signing keys and cross-checked the embedded tutor ID against the claimed profile.
The review text is the original reviewer's own words, quoted as-is. We verified the tutor's ownership of the profile, not the truth of what each individual reviewer wrote.

Lesley has been an extremely helpful tutor. She provides useful resources that are targeted to the GCSE exam. Most importantly, my son feels much more confident and competent in his French. Lesley explains topics clearly and patiently and makes sure the different skills needed for the exam are covered.

Anna
Lesley has been tutoring my son over the summer holidays in readiness for the start of year 11. The sessions have been incredibly helpful and my son is very keen to continue throughout the new academic year. Lesley has structured the sessions according to areas that need the most work, including topics from year 9 that need further revision. We're thrilled with the progress so far!
Lesley replied
Thanks, Anna, it's nice seeing him make progress!

Lily
Lesley is knowledgeable and professional in the subject she teaches. She is organised and approachable. My son has had several online lessons with her so far, she is always well prepared and makes a good and effective use of the 1 hour. Following the lesson, Lesley always sends through some material straightaway for her student to practice and reinforce the knowledge acquired. I will highly recommend Lesley to anyone who wants to learn or improve French.
Lesley replied
Many thanks, Lily! I'm really enjoying teaching him so I hope he feels he's making progress
