Teaching Experience
I am a qualified Maths teacher with experience teaching students of different ages, backgrounds and abilities. I have experience teaching directly in s schools as well as private tuition.
I have taught BGE, Key Stage 3, National 5, GCSE/IGCSE (Foundation and Higher levels), and Higher Maths, working with pupils both one-to-one and in small groups.
I was also teaching in school during the pandemic and successfully supported my pupils in maintaining progress, achieving strong results and moving on to the next stage of their education despite the disruption to learning.
I hold an Enhanced DBS check.
Alongside teaching, I create structured Maths courses and learning resources designed to help students strengthen their understanding, practise independently and prepare effectively for exams.
Teaching Approach
Every student learns differently, so I use a range of explanations, methods and techniques to find the approach that makes the most sense to each individual pupil. If one method does not click, we try another until the student feels confident with both the process and the reasoning behind it.
Over the years, I have supported pupils both in school and through private tuition, helping them progress through different stages of their education, prepare for exams and work towards the grades they need for their future plans, including college and university applications.
I believe that successful tutoring is a partnership. The pupil still needs to put in the effort, but my role is to guide them, explain difficult concepts clearly, identify gaps in their knowledge and show them how to close those gaps effectively. I also teach exam technique, including how to interpret questions, choose the right method and understand what examiners are looking for.
Where appropriate, I provide targeted homework and practice between lessons so that pupils revisit what we have covered, strengthen retention and build confidence through independent study.
My aim is to give each student the combination of clear teaching, structure, encouragement and exam knowledge they need to make meaningful progress and achieve their goals.
